So this is my very first review for the entertainment side of IP. I looked at some of the reviews I’ve seen an enjoyed and so I am laying it out similar to the ones I’ve liked. I hope the format works for you.

The Show: Overall it was not the best show ever. I do not recommend running out to see it unless you’re interested in it already. If you feel strongly about horses, coming of age, and montages are good then you’ll enjoy it. The montages got better as time went on, there wasn’t even one in the final episode when I was sure they’d have one. It ends with one of the most ‘we try to hard’ cliffhangers I’ve ever seen. It ends with the ever popular word “To be continued…” Yes. Really.

The show is perfect for 14 year old girls who love horses. I know this because I lent it to a 14 year old girl after I was done and she totally loved it. The 40 some things however couldn’t stop making fun of it. The mockery was extreme, and that was before they had wine. The only guy who watched a little of it with me found it totally mock worthy too.

It was a fun romp of some nature. I’m not entirely sure of which one but of some. If you are willing to suspend disbelief, reality, and your sense this is great. It’s totally cheesy but if you are ok with that it can be good. I was only able to totally get into the mindset for one episode. So I rewatched it to make sure it wasn’t just that it happened to be an actually good episode, it wasn’t, I’d just gotten into it. If you can, then you’ll love the show, because it can hold together if you get there.

The writing is respectable but not good. It’s pretty predictable, but these aren’t all bad things. It’s a good family kind of thing. It is likely very good for it’s ABC Family Channel audience. It was originally designed for WB (it was better off on ABC).

There are a couple of good episodes. The show starts off with her being a ‘bad girl’ but later on we don’t really even talk about that. She’s not even off parole yet and we still don’t care. It’s very weird. Once it settles into its rhythm it’s a little better. So if you think you might like it wait until you’ve gotten through the first 5 episodes or so before you give up.

The show is mediocre as general entertainment. It is good as entertainment for a family. It is great for a few people. No one will detest it, there is nothing worthy of detestability.

5/10

The Geeky:
Video: Nice clear picture. Not anything to write home about but you’ll enjoy the horses in great detail. It’s not all dark, but nice and clear.
Audio: Decent quality, not lots of surround, I hardly noticed anything noteworthy. But the music was at a nice level and the voices were always clear.
The Box: Buy this in the store rather than online if you are concerned about a not broken box. Mine got shipped and broke in the shipping. This seems to be a common problem, just buy it in the store and shake it to see if it sounds like it broke.

The Extras:
The horse thing: Fine. Great for horse lovers, the rest can skip it.
The commentaries: Good for people who loved the show, but as with most commentaries, if you didn’t love the show, you won’t get much out of the commentary.
Deleted Scenes: Some good, some not, always fun to see.
The DVD itself is great for people who loved the show, lots of extras, good quality. 8.5/10

The Hottie: Everyone looks like a knock off. They all look like they are almost someone you know, but not quite. There is a little sort of something for everyone, whatever kind you like. But none are enough, or a hot enough anyone to make it worth it to watch just for the lust factor. (Although there is the Pink Power Ranger, if you want that.) There’s no graphic sex, so it’s fine for teens.
