The 2005 Year End Award Nominees

Archive

Hello everyone, and welcome to the first step in the process of getting this year’s award ceremony off the ground. Because of some internal issues, we weren’t able to get our normal Year End Ceremony out as we would have liked. The good news however is that this year we’ve decided to make the Year Ends a bit more reader friendly. And yes it’s still going to be a bit late, but should still be done earlier than it was last year :)

Anyway, the process we’re going to use this year is to let you the readers and fans vote for the winners. The whole procedure is pretty easy. Basically all you need to do is nominate your 2 favorite writers, artists, characters, events, etc from the list below. The nominees with the most nominations from each category will win their division, and we’ll list the top 5 for each category once all the votes are in (as well as a few words about each winner). Any ties that may occur will be voted on by the staff.

This is your chance as readers and fans not only to vote on the best stuff from last year, but to completely pick who/what is in the running. And since this will be based completely on your responses the more people who write it the better the results will be, however everyone will only be able to vote once.

The voting will be done by sending an email with your 2 picks from each category to the following email address: Nexus-polls@hotmail.com. Please put some sort of reference to the year end awards in the subject line. If you have any questions about the process you can email there or to me via this column.

So without further ado, here are your categories:

Best Ongoing Series
Best Writer
Best Artist
Best Hero
Best Villain
Best Team
Best Storyline
Best Limited Series (Must have had the majority of its issues published in ’05)
Best Character Comeback
Best Supporting Character
Most Missed Title (Must have been published at least 4 times in ’05 before being cancelled.)
Book Most Deserving of Wider Recognition/Readership
Best Moment
Best Single Issue

So there you have it. We have a couple different categories this year, but that should just make it more fun. Remember all nominations should be based on events and issues that came out in 2005. And also remember to give your 2 favorite nominations in each category. We’d like everyone to vote in all the categories, but if you really don’t have an opinion on one or two that’s ok. Again, remember that the more people vote on everything the better the results will be.

The staff and I would really like to get this out as fast as possible, so lets set the nomination deadline at next Friday, February 24th. I’ll start tallying after that and we’ll get to work on the getting the awards out.

Remember to send all nomination emails to Nexus-polls@hotmail.com and any questions either there or to me here via this column.

Thanks everyone and let the voting begin.
