What would you say were some of the most controversial slurs in wrestling recently? was pondering about this and would like your take.

Interesting question. The first thing that sticks out to me was Vince McMonopoly’s “n word” skit at Survivor Series. If you missed, it it was when Vince said “yo g, what up my niggah” to Cena backstage, then he walked off and passed Booker T who said, as expected, “tell me he didn’t just say that.” That one surprised a lot of people. Other than that, Kurt Angle’s backstage interview at New Year’s Revolution where he said “I’m not too fond of the black people, I hope the US loses the war in Iraq, I would make Jesus tap out” and all that noise. All the Angle anti-American stuff from RAW, I guess, like the oh so “MAJOR” announcement that he doesn’t like what the troops are doing. That would tie in to Muhammad Hussan’s anti-American stuff, but look how long that torch was lit. But in all seriousness, this is wrestling. Sports entertainment. Picking all the “contrsoversial slurs” would be like picking all the times the times the Beatles used the word “love” in their songs. Or how many times Triple H went over.

What were some of your favorite wrestling signs?

Besides the recent Cena is Trash and Cena Sucks? Just one…

The NeelDown SmackDown Zone

– Richland, Virginia

– Hosts are Michael Cole & Tazz

– Randy Orton comes out to do the token “I’m going to WrestleMania, you’re not” segment and says that Kurt Angle got lucky by beating Undertaker. Well Randy, you could be facing Undertaker instead, wouldn’t you and us all just love that feud? Chavito Guerrero ends the segment by attacking Orton and then hitting the stolen Frog Splash but then gets escored off by security. So now all those people crying because Rey deserves the Mania spot can grab a tissue and please shut the hell up.

MNM v. Matt Hardy & Tatanka- WWE Tag Team Championship
Think about it this way, folks. The only reason Hardy and Tatanka are going for the tag titles right now, or the only reason they are even a tag team in the first place, is because WWE needed a face tag team on SmackDown, and they had nothing left to do with Hardy. If MNM has to job them the belts here, it’s going to be like a flashback to Great American Bash where they had to job the belts to another slopped together face tag team in Heidenreich and Animal. Matt overpowers Mercury to start and Nitro blind tags himself in but it doesn’t phase Hardy. Hardy and Tatanka flapjack Nitro. Melina takes control of the ref and MNM dump Tatanka. Tatanka comes back in and schoolboys Nitro but ref is still distracted. Hardy comes in with a running neckbreaker. Mercury hits him with a Northern Lights for two. Tatanka breaks up a Snapshot attempt on Hardy and Matt sunset flips one of them for two. With with new hair color, it’s even harder to tell them apart, you know. Hardy has Mercury in Twist of Fate position, but, like a chiuaua, gets his ankle grabbed my Melina. Mercury rolls Hardy up with tight grabbing for the win. Even after a title match, the whole thing still seems pretty sloppy to me. **

– Burchill and Regal do what their purpose is, and that is to do their little antics backstage after the opening contest every week. I thought with the pirate gimmick Burchill was seperated from Regal now, but whatever.

The Boogeyman v. The Dicks
Even with a handicap match, The Dicks have about the credibility to beat Boogey as Simon Dean did. One of the Penises gets Derailed thus ending the Dicks’ careers. Boogeyman chaes Booker off who has apprently become the third announcer at this point. -*
Winner: The Boogeyman

– Rey Mysterio comes out to apologize to everybody for losing the WrestleMania shot. Blah blah blah, then Teddy Long comes out and shows the instant replay of Orton grabbing the ropes to steal the victory. See, stuff like that is what I don’t get. Why isn’t that done in every important match which ends cheaply? In SmackDown’s case, every JBL match. Long makes it a triple threat and adds Mysterio. Oh, the agony of shock.

Gregory Helms v. Psicosis- WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match
Psicosis takes him down but Helms gets cocky and slaps him. After some outside play Helms gets an ELBOW OF DOOM and leg drop. Psicosis gets a head scissors but Helms knocks him back down with a lariat. Psicosis gets a spin kick for two, and stupidly, forwhatever reason, tries another one which misses, and Helms gets a neckbreaker. They go up top and Helms gets shoved down, but he holds onto the ref to prevent anything from the top rope. Psicosis then gets crotched, and rolled up with rope leverage giving Helms another retain. Odd finish, short, and nothing spotty to be remembered. *1/2, I guess they’re still going with the same Helms vs every other cruiser every week, even after the No Way Out thing.

– Teddy Long comes out and makes a Taker-Angle rematch. I wouldn’t mind seeing that one.

– Randy Orton threatens to not be at tonight’s main event because he’s pissed at the Chavito thing, but Teddy threatens to take him out of the Mania main event.

JBL, Randy Orton, & Fit Finlay v. Chris Benoit, BOBBY, & Rey Mysterio
So you’ve got this match furthering the feuds of Orton-Rey and Finlay-Bobby, and then Benoit and JBL thrown in there. Orton and Mysterio go back and fourth, and Orton finally gets sent crashing to the floor after a headscissors. Back in and and Bobby get tagged in for feud #2. Finlay jabs him but gets whipped and speared. After the evil main event advertisements, JBL is struggling to go get out of Benoit’s Sharpshooter. He gets the rope, Benoit tags out to Bobby who belly to bellys JBL, which brings up a point some people have been talking about lately, how Bobby is “lacking” the wrestling skills a lot of people thought he had. This idea sparked from Bobby’s continuous Steiner-esque belly to bellys against JBL. Bobby spears JBL, and see, there’s two different moves, although they have both been done in this match already. That gets two after a broken count. Rey springs in to take JBL down. Finlay can’t take Rey down, so JBL comes back to fall victum of the short end of a headscissors. Finlay ilegally takes him down on the apron which allows Mysterio to stumble into a bearhug by JBL. Orton gets tagged in to do battle with Mysterio for a while. Benoit gets in and KILLS everyone with Germans. The SWAN connects on JBL but only gets two. JBL continues to play the whipping boy and gets caught in the Crossface, which Finlay breaks up. JBL gains advantage on the outside and gets the steel steps, but Benoit dropkicks them into him. JBL gets back in and right into 619 position (way to set that one up) allowing it to connect followed by the dime dropping giving the faces the victory. Better than it could have been. ***
Winners: Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, & BOBBY

The NeelDown: No appearences from Kurt Angle, the Champion, was pretty weird. I don’t remember the last time we saw a Champ-less show. For that matter, there was also no Undertaker or Mizark Henry, so that worked out well.

Well, that does it for my two week little stint doing SmackDown. Maybe I’ll be back to fill in for someone in the future. Anyway, don’t miss The NeelDown iMPACT Zone tonight (or tommorow, depending) and have a safe one. And how about some feedback? That has seemed to be lacking lately.
