The New & Improved Comics Nexus

Archive

Hello again everyone.

As I’m sure most of you have noticed, either in reading the columns this week, or the cryptic top stories from last week, we here at The Nexus are in the process of revamping a lot of the site. The overall goal here is to bring you a better, more visual site with a lot more content.

Over the next few weeks we’re going to be trying some new things with various columns, reviews, etc, and we’d really like to hear from you all on how you think it’s going. Tell us what you like, and what you don’t. For a couple examples of what I’m talking about, take a look at the newest DC News & Views and today’s The Ultimate Marvel Handbook #1 (156).

Besides adding more images to basically everything we’re doing, we’re also going to be shaking things up with our Reviews Section. Okay, that may have been an understatement. We’re actually going to radically change the way we do reviews. First off, instead of waiting until the Monday after comics come out to start putting reviews up, we’re going to start posting them on Thursday the day AFTER comics come out. So no more waiting till after the weekend to see what we liked and what we didn’t. Secondly, the format for our reviews is changing greatly. Instead of the long column-like reviews we’ve been doing for the past three years, we’re going to move to doing our reviews in more of “blog” style. While at first this may sound a little suspicious, believe me we’ve been working long and hard to bring a great new review style. From now on, you won’t get one or two reviews from each writer, you’re going to get a concise review on every single title they read each week, and you’ll get them all in one simple review column.

Now, to make sure we bring you daily content, we’re not going to be mass posting the reviews on one or two days (again like we’ve done for the last three years). Instead, each writer has been given a day to post their reviews so that you will receive at LEAST one new “blog” review every day, starting on Thursday and ending on Tuesday (just before the next week’s comics come out). Before everyone starts yelling that the sky is falling, give us the benefit of the doubt and check out these new reviews and see how they look/read before you pass judgment.

On top of all this though, we’re also striving to bring you more columns every day. We have a couple new ones lined up (and with any luck they’ll be dropping this week/weekend), including Will Cooling’s new column – which launched this past Saturday – The Nexus Files, new comer Jeff Ritte’s forth coming Welcome To My Nightmare, the return of Across The Pond’s Floyed Kermode in a new weekly column, many new Interviews, and a few old school reviews (both retro and non-blog format), and more still in the works. And of course with all this new content we’ve had to expand our hours. So now, instead of being closed on the weekends, The Nexus is now open for business 24/7. That’s right, as of this last week, we’ll be posting new content every day of the week. So don’t miss out. Make sure to check in with us every day and get your fill of comic goodness!

As always, your feedback is invaluable. If you have suggestions that you think might make the site better, please don’t hesitate to send me an email. And again, wait till you see the content before bashing it”¦give us at least that much :)

Have a great week everyone, and be watching for the Year End Award Ceremony coming soon!
