The Weekly Pulse: TV's Second Wife

Archive

The air is turning warmer here and that always puts me in a good mood. I love the Spring and especially the Summer time of year. Of course, that means that no new TV shows will be on or at least very few. But there is still some good stuff in the Summer like ‘Big Brother’. And I agree with everyone that thinks there should be 3 “seasons” for television. There should be a Fall season, a Winter season, and then a Summer season. Non-stop episodes of your favorite shows. I know it could be done with a little creative thinking by the major networks. But I doubt we’ll see that for a long time, if ever.

And it’s the start of March and that means it’s March Madness time! College basketball! This will take over my life, especially once the brackets are announced on Sunday. I will spend hours upon hours on filling out my brackets. I’m sure office pools will pop up all over the country. In the Fall, you had Fantasy Football. In the Spring, you have March Madness! YES!

Not much else to say really. I’ve had a busy week as I recapped 3 shows and tried to do a couple of DVD reviews I have been putting off. So you have probably heard enough of me the past week. Lets get to what everyone else did at IPTV this week!

Seinfeld Quote of the Week

“I had nothing to do with any of this! I met all her friends, I didn’t want to meet them. I kept trying to avoid it, I knew it would only get me in deeper, but they were everywhere! They kept popping up, all over the place. ‘This is Nancy, this is Susan, this is Amy.. This is my cousin.. this is my brother.. this is my father…’ It’s like I’m in quicksand!”George

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Oh..and he also did the first episode of ‘The Amazing Race 9’. That is why I had to help him out this week and he was almost as busy as me. But just a little short!

I start off my marathon of recapping shows this week. First up is Sunday and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’! Next is Monday and the usual ‘Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet II’! And it’s a good one! The Weekly Pulse Weekly Poll

Last week..I asked the question…”do you watch ‘Grey’s Anatomy’?” And here are the results:

I NEVER miss an episode! – 4
Sometimes! – 1
I watched it, and HATED it! – 0
I have NEVER seen it! – 4

So it’s a tie! But it’s mostly positive. You either have seen ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and LOVE it and can’t miss an episode or you have never seen a episode of it. That is what I pretty much expected. No one hates it after watching it. And maybe the “never seen” people will watch and become hooked. Because I was like them not too long ago and look at me now!

Now for this week’s question. It’s about gameshows during primetime. Not reality TV shows, but gameshows where you come to win money. See further down for a new entry into this category. Here is this week’s question…“what do you think about gameshows?” Click on the link and VOTE! Remember..VOTE OR DIE!

Time to Talk a.k.a. Come on Down..You’re the Next Contestant on…!!

A little show returned to TV this week on NBC. It was a “hit” show before the Olympics and they brought it back after the Olympics. And it’s a show that is lumped into a category of shows that always seem to work for some reason. People always seem to watch them. They are game shows and the show is ‘Deal or No Deal’.

Why do people watch these shows? I don’t know. Maybe it’s the money involved. People like them have a chance to win lots of money. ‘Deal or No Deal’ is like ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’. It got HUGE ratings. But I tell you what..these shows are annoying. And when I say annoying..I mean that the way people act on the show is annoying. The contestants act all retarded and stuff. They act like..I don’t know..they just seem “fake”. And the host is usually a smartass. And Howie Mandell is no different.

Now I know..this is all an act. They all act this way because it’s a TV show. That’s what makes a show like this fun and why you can’t stop watching it. But ‘Deal or No Deal’ is so simple. It’s just luck. You don’t have to be smart like ‘WWTBAM?’ You just pick random briefcases and hope that lower amounts of money are in them. You can get greedy and lose a lot of money or you can take a “deal”. It’s up to you.

I don’t know what the draw is for shows like these, but people watch them. I know I do. For some reason they can be addicting. Now I have watched less of this show recently because ‘American Idol’ takes over TV and that comes first. But if nothing else is on, you know that ‘Deal or No Deal’ will be on. Maybe just so I can shake my head at how retarded people act or maybe wishing it was me on that show. Who knows, but before you know it..I’ll be yelling at the TV and telling Billy Bob to pick briefcase #8! I SAID 8..DAMNIT! Uh..sorry. See what I mean? I know you do it too.

So I ask you now..”Deal or No Deal?”!

That’s all I got this week. Any comments, questions, or suggestions are always welcome.

“Life Ain’t Always Beautiful, but It’s a Beautiful Ride!”

And as always remember…“You Can’t Fight Fate!”. See you next week!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
