Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet II – (Episode 15)

Cue the music..cue the entrances..cue the cool water scenes where everyone comes up through the water to the surface and they are dry as a
bone! Those were some of the veterans and the rookies. Now the rest are
already on the beach and they fight it out…

We open up with Randy and Kina talking. Randy tells her that she has done a great job so far as the captain. Kina tells us that the final girl gauntlet is coming up..this episode actually. There is a lot of pressure on being the captain and she doesn’t want to go home on the last one. She wonders what the gauntlet will be. She thinks she can beat anyone, but wants to beat the easiest person if it comes down to it.

Clue time! “Trust me..this picture perfect challenge will blindside you!” It’s “Female Gauntlet Day” and the final one as I have mentioned. Aneesa would hate to go into the gauntlet today as she would be facing a friend of hers.

It’s Challenge time! It is called “Blind Trust”! There are two platforms, suspended 20 feet above the water. There is a balance beam connecting the two platforms. Pictures of the whole team is hanging above the beam. They have to grab a picture of themselves and another person and walk across the beam, which has different levels that they must navigate over. Once they get across, they put the picture up a wall and then they become the “coach”. They tell the next person which picture to get and how to get across the beam. There is a 10 minute time limit and if you fall..you get the whole 10 minutes. It’s a timed event as the team that gets across the fastest wins. The winning captain gets a trip to Fiji. Sweet! The “rookies” have to sit one male and one female to make it even. The female will be exempt from the gauntlet. Kina decides to sit Jodi out, since she is a strong player and needs to be in there at the end. MJ will also sits out. Jillian will feel bad if she was here a month and had to leave today. Same is said by Julie. She also says that if one person messes up..it could screw everything up for the team.

I forget to mention that the first player across will be able to see. All the others will be blindfolded, which is why you need a “coach” to help you across. And Ibis is the first to go for the “rookies”. She just wants to make good time. She grabs a picture of herself and Cameran and posts a time of 1:09.

She now helps Randy across. He grabs Danny and himself and gets across in 5:09.

Randy helps Jillian. He grabs herself and Cara, and says that it’s hard to pull the pictures off. She has a time of 6:57.

She helps Alton next. Well..she doesn’t really say anything. He grabs a picture of himself along with someone else. He wants Jillian to help him more, but she doesn’t really do much as he is about to fall. That means we have to go!

Commercial time!

Alton makes it across, though. He puts up him and Adam in a time of 8:39.

He helps Kina across. But her legs keep shaking. She makes it in a time of 9:50 with herself and Jeremy.

She helps Landon now. He does it in a fast 3:41.

Susie is next and she gets 6:48.

Jamie is the last one. He grabs the last two pictures and does it in 3:25.

Susie thinks they did a great job and hopes that the “veterans” fall in. Katie says that it rained between turns..so it’s a little more slippery out there. She is nervous.

Katie is first for the “veterans”. She makes it across in 2:00.

She helps David across, but is having a little trouble. She tells him to go backwards, which David comments is crazy! But he missed his picture. He is across in 4:54.

Derrick is next. He is across in 4:40. Jodi thinks the “veterans” are moving faster than her team, so she hopes they fall.

Julie is next and she is done in 5:07.

She helps Mark and he is done in 6:08.

He helps Robin across. 4:54 for her. Robin says that hearing Mark’s voice made it easier for her as she trusts him.

She helps Timmy now. A few problems with directions. Left and right are different! But he is across in 4:31.

Aneesa is last and she almost slips. Timmy doesn’t want to screw things up at the end. She is across in 7:25. The “veterans” feel pretty good, but don’t want to celebrate too soon like last time.

TJ comes in with the final times! The “veterans” had a time of 40 minutes and 10 seconds. The “rookies” had 45 minutes and 46 seconds! So the “veterans” are the winners! And Julie is proud to last until the end. She didn’t get voted off and Aneesa, Julie, Robin, and Katie are the final girls for the “veteran” team! Aneesa says a “weight has been lifted off of her”.

MJ says that Kina needs to put Ibis in the gauntlet. Meanwhile, Kina is freaking out with Jodi. She can’t pick any of her friends, but she has to. And she is really freaking out now! Why not put Susie in there, since you used to hate her. That way she wouldn’t put up friends and problem solved. Oh well..we need drama I suppose. So she screams a lot in the bathroom and she is so “annoyed” by this whole thing! Last time to go!

Commercial time!

“Gauntlet Deliberation” time! Kina says she has to keep herself here and her decision is based on that. Susie thinks she might be going in there. Kina says she has to do what she has to do and decides on Jillian. It was her best decision to make as far as beating her in the gauntlet.

TJ comes in to spin the wheel and it lands on “Sticky Situation”! A new one! Yay! Jillian thinks that Kina made a HUGE mistake in putting her in the gauntlet. She will pay for it.

Gauntlet Time! The rules for this new gauntlet is as follows. There will be an offender and a defender. The offender will have a ball in their hand. TJ will ring the bell and the offender will try to put three tennis balls into some holes on a wall behind the defender. The defender has to stay in their “box” and can try to knock the ball away or whatever. If they both fall to the ground and wrestle with each other for a few seconds..well that turn is over and they switch sides. The first one to three wins! Kina gets to decide which side to go on first and she says offense. Jillian says she is great at defense, so she likes that choice.

Here we go! Kina comes in and basically pushes Jillian over and puts one ball into the hole.

Jillian’s turn now and she gets slammed to the ground. Kina thinks it’s over but Jillian is up and puts the ball into the hole. Kina says she was down, but you have to keep her down for a few seconds before it’s over. So it’s 1-1. Jillian is in pain now, though.

Kina is going again. She gets knocked down and hits her mouth. But she is up and makes it into the hole. 2-1 for Kina. Robin calls both girls “gladiators” in this gauntlet.

Jillian is up. Kina takes her down and holds her down. So that turn is over. Kina says that Jillian is a friend, but a lot of money is at stake and her boyfriend is here, so she has to do what she has to do.

Kina is up for maybe the last time. She runs Jillian over and puts the last ball into the hole. 3-1 for Kina! Kina wins! Kina wants to cry now as it has been an emotional rollercoaster. But it’s over now. Jillian is gone and Kina is in the finals. So it’s Kina, Ibis, Susie, and Jodi as the final girls for their team! Timmy thinks that Jillian going home will hurt the “rookies” as she is a good athlete. So he is happy.

Time to say goodbye and Jillian acts happy, but really she is pissed to be leaving. And MJ is mad because Ibis is still here and he thinks she has been sucking lately. He will be angry if Ibis costs them in the last challenge.

And we are out until next week!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
