OVW returned to the Davis Arena (4400 Shepherdsville Road in Louisville) with a wild show highlighted by a really wild tag team brawl in the main event. It all started when Osama Rodriguez Alejandro interviewed Idol Stevens and Beth Phoenix in the dressing room. In a shocking moment, Beth actually blamed Idol for Idol’s loss of the TV Title to Seth Skyfire. Beth said Idol needed to be a man and stand up to Shelly. Idol got really mad and blamed Beth, because Beth brought Shelly into their relationship. Wrestling soap opera at its best! Idol told Beth she better go rip apart that “sea hag” Shelly. Beth said, “Oh, sure, whatever you say, Idol.” Wow. The split is happening. So Beth heads out the door, but Shelly is waiting for Beth. The next 30 seconds saw a fight that was far from the typical cat fight. These two brawled and threw some heavy duty punches at each other. Referees and more people tried to break them up.

Then, Maria introduced Seth Skyfire, the new OVW TV Champion. The interview was interrupted by Brent Albright, the current OVW Heavyweight Champion. Albright wanted a Title vs Title match, but the challenge was interrupted by Aaron “The Idol” Stevens. So now Skyfire is standing in the ring against Stevens and Albright. The self-proclaimed Idol threatens to jump over the guardrail and take away Seth’s sexy little girlfriend in the front row. Skyfire jumps Stevens, and then does well against Stevens and Albright until the heels start pounding on Skyfire. Albright starts viciously and mercilessly whipping Seth with the heavy duty leather strap. Chet The Jet comes out, but he falls victim to Albright and Stevens, who nail a sweet Double DDT on Chet. Albright goes back to whipping Seth, until CM Punk runs out and the heels run away.

Osama is reporting from outside Danny Davis’s office. Tonight, it will be Idol getting a 5 minute chance to regain his title against Skyfire. After the 5 minute chance, it becomes a tag team match. Idol and Albright against Skyfire and Chet. But wait! Osama informs us Chet is going to the Jewish Hospital down the road, and now Albright and Stevens are in Davis’s office claiming the only substitute they will go for will be CM Punk. At one point in the promo Osama actually said “Chet is going to the Jewish Hospital. He’s not even Jewish. I’m half Palestinian. I can see them from a mile away!”

Later, Skyfire is getting medical attention when The Highlanders stop by and entertain us all. But when they leave, Skyfire is joined by Punk, who finds the entire night interesting.

Stevens came out to the ring for the 5 minute chance to regain his title, and Skyfire came to right. They spilled outside the ring, and started fighting right in front of Skyfire’s girlfriend. Idol blew her a kiss, and she slapped him. Skyfire started throwing punches and kicks at Stevens, and got him in the ring to lock on an Ultimo Dragon style reverse sleeper. But Albright ran out and the tag team match started. Albright and Idol set up a table, and were going to put Skyfire through the table when Punk ran out. The wild brawl was on. It ended up with Punk and Albright fighting over the leather strap and doing an amazing superplex through the table. Then Skyfire hit an upside down flip on Stevens off the top rope. The referee was calling for someone to help Punk and Albright, so Beth ran in out of nowhere and hit the most awesome spear or gore on Skyfire, it looked like she broke every single one of his ribs. But this brought out Shelly, and the fight between the two vixens was hot and heavy. Yes, you get the gratuitous panty shots, but these two fight and it’s a heavy brawl. Referees ran out to separate Beth and Shelly. Idol hit the Idolizer on Skyfire for the pin. Great match, super exciting, I can’t say enough about it.

There was a lot more, too. WWE Monday Night Raw’s Gene Snitsky, an old OVW regular, returned and had a very competitive match with the tough as nails Mikey Batts. Snitsky gave Batts some stiff shots and big throws in this match.

The Spirit Squad’s feud with Elijah Burke, KC James, and Roadkill continued as Kenny (Doane), Johnny (Jeter), and Mikey (Mondo) won a six man tag team match when Mikey pinned Elijah after help from Mitch (Nick Mitchell) and Nicky (Nemeth). Johnny Jeter hit a kick in this match that I can’t believe Elijah ever got up from. Roadkill was super over.

The Highlanders defeated Deuce Shade and Dice Domino, who were managed by Cherry. It was a double pin. Fun match. Osama did commentary, which I can’t wait to hear on tv.

In dark matches, Charles “Don’t Call Me Bad News” Evenns pinned Russell Simpson in a good match. The Riggs Brothers beat The Neighborhoodies, which was okay. Henry Godwinn returned to wrestling and pinned Chuckie, who was like a cross between Beetlejuice and Doink, managed by Robbie Dawber. That match was just bad.

OVW returns to The Davis Arena in Louisville next Wednesday for a big tv taping with two main events already announced. First, it finally happens, it’s Beth Phoenix vs Shelly, and you have to think Idol and Paul Birchall will be involved. Then it’s Albright vs Punk vs Skyfire vs Idol in a one fall match with both titles being defended. A title unification is possible. All four men will be legal in the ring at the same time. Directions are available at www.ovwrestling.com, and so are the monthly OVW DVDs and videotapes.

The January series features Brent Albright and CM Punk continuing their feud but in a really unique way as they were teaming in matches to see who could make the opponents tap out quicker. Plus, the birth of The Spirit Squad. Also the introduction of Deuce Shade and Dice Domino as a team. And Aaron “The Idol” Stevens, with some provocative moments involving Beth and Shelly, takes control of the OVW Television Championship. The February series features the Brent Albright heel turn and the most famous OVW show in history, the one with Matt Cappotelli’s farewell speech. Chris Cage and The Miz take over the tag team division. The tournament for the OVW Title starts, and both Osama and Shelly’s big pushes really take off as the Big Lalo (Osama) for Dictator Campaign takes off, and Shelly falls in love with Paul “The Pirate” Birchall.
