Invasion – Recap – Episode 1-17

Archive

Unfortunately I have been extremely busy the last few days and as I’m going away on Friday until sometime next week, I’m afraid this will be a rather brief recap (I had a hard time making time to even watch ‘Invasion’ so recap time is limited).

I plan to go back and write a more detailed recap after I get back For now though, I’ll be:

Episode Plots:

School is back in session. Jesse feels rather left out at school as there has been a major social restructuring (along hybrid/non-hybrid lines). He meets Brett who feels much the same way. Later on Jesse sees the hybrids being really good at sports. Then he talks to Brett some more. They decide they should stick together to watch out for each other.

Mariel is going to the hospital when she runs into gun-toting Christina. Christina threatens Mariel and forces her to examine her; the two don’t get along very well. An ultrasound shows that Christina is having multiple somethings (they are clearly not human, whatever they are). Mariel eventually manages to sneak a message out to contact Tom and drug Christina. Christina doesn’t take kindly to the drugging but Tom shows up before much can come of it.

Kira doesn’t really have a plot in this episode but she turns up a couple of times. First Tom comes to check on her as she is recovering from her injuries. The two have a good family togetherness moment but then Tom is summoned to go protect Mariel from Christina.

Later on Jesse stops by. Jesse is not mad at Kira for not saying anything about the whole things with Tom and Mariel. Kira mentions something about Tom taking Mariel to the water the night of the hurricane and Jesse gets rather upset.

Zura, after some friction with Tom, attempts to find Christina. To do so, he brings in Derek, who really is looking forward to being a dad. They are making progress towards finding her but she is already in Tom’s custody by the time they are found. Tom hands Christina over to Zura.

Russ and Dave find a boat key in Healy’s trailer. While checking out the boat, a nearby boater mentions that Healy was always looking at islands in the Keys (under the guise of looking for a place to retire). Russ and Dave check out some satellite photos and find an island which has signs of recent habitation. After some extended searching they find the island with the hybrids.

As they find said island, Zura arrives with Christina and Derek in tow. He gives a speech about the importance of togetherness (mirroring what Brett told Jesse earlier). Then he segues into the consequences of acting alone. This leads to a bullet for Christina and another for Derek.

A pretty solid episode this week. It seems like Tom actually has good intentions for the hybrid (and an attitude of co-operation with non-hybrids), while Zura seems much more interested in fighting the non-hybrids in order to protect the hybrids.

From the sounds of things we’ll be getting 4 weeks of ‘Evidence’ before we get to see any more ‘Invasion’. In the meantime, if you’re the in the US, you’re finally getting to see the new ‘Doctor Who’ on the Sci-Fi channel starting on Friday.
