Wicked Wisdom – Wicked Wisdom Review

Wicked Wisdom Official Website

The Inside Pulse:
Fronted by Will Smith’s wife and fellow actress Jada Pinkett Smith, Wicked Wisdom gained amazing exposure through the behemoth festival known as Ozzfest this past summer. With a gritty performance, Wicked Wisdom shocked most of the music world by gaining acceptance by the metal heads, which was originally scoffed at when people found out who the lead singer was. With their debut album, lets see how they compare to the other metal giants.

Positives:
The vocals aren’t Nightwish or Lacuna Coil, but they’re not Kittie or Arch Enemy either. Jada seems to find a balance after awhile with the vocals, which at first really do get under your skin. As for the rest of the band, they do their jobs well and sometimes excel. It’s nothing you really haven’t heard before, but it’s not something that’s awful.

Negatives:
The first three tracks. Smith tries way too hard to sound “metal” in the first few tracks and it will certainly turn people off of the album. She’s kind of going for screaming, power chords, and singing – all of which come of pretty nasty.

Cross-breed:
Think any generic metal band fronted by a less aggressive Kittie at times and a more aggressive Lacuna Coil at other times. However, Jada does not have the sweet voice that Scabbia provides for Lacuna Coil.

Reason to buy:
If you can get by the first three tracks, you’ll find a very solid album with no complaints here. If you can’t get past the first few tracks, fair enough. Recommendation to check out.
