The Season

Every few years, a brand new television comedy comes out causing a firestorm of controversy. TV shows like “Jackass”, “Bevis and Butthead”, and “South Park” always breed controversy because of their content. I suppose that is what separates “The Andy Milonakis Show” and other shows of its ilk from “The Simpsons”, “Family Guy”, and so forth. While these shows breed controversy, at their core, they are entertaining and usually hilarious. “The Andy Milonakis Show” is the antithesis of funny.

The formula for the first season of “The Andy Milonakis Show” is simple. Cram as many short unfunny skits into twenty minutes as possible and cap it off with a bad celebrity appearance. Oh, also add in a few “wacky” regulars and have some zany skits featuring old New Yorkers. That’s the formula of this show, a formula that was apparently found scribbled on a furnace in Auschwitz.

In the eight episodes included on this DVD, there is not even a chuckle, chortle, or guffaw. Andy’s show is something that a bunch of high school Freshman would make after getting wasted on two beers. The skits are so bad that a quadriplegic Tom Green would drag himself by his teeth through AIDS infected needles to try and change the channel.

Andy himself is as annoying a character as ever seen on television. Part Pee Wee Herman, part Tom Green, and part cocaine baby dropped on his head, Andy’s humor is usually inoffensive in content (assuming, of course, your definition of offense has nothing to do with quality). Andy spends most of his show eating, playing with his dog, and “rapping” (assuming, of course, your definition of rapping has nothing to do with quality).

If it’s not obvious by now, I don’t like this show in the least. I’m sure that it has some appeal and that some people enjoy Andy’s antics. These people are the same type of people who will probably be frothing at the mouth because of this review and typing away hate mail about how I have no idea what I’m talking about and so forth. Let me save you the time.

DEER ASSHOLE,

U SUX1 I CANT BELIEVE YOU HATE ANDY! HE’S SO FUNNIE. I HOPE U GET CANCER AND DIE YOU BITHC! IM GONNA FIND YOU AND RAP THE SHIT OUT OFUR ASS!!!11 IF UR SO FUNY WHY DON’T YOU HAVE A TV SHOW ON MTV2? FUK U ASHOLE

To which I respond,

Thanks for the feedback. I’m sorry you don’t agree with my review, but to each their own. I tried to write an entertaining review that focused more on my absolute disdain for the show. I’m glad you found some enjoyment out of it, and I wish I could have the perspective that you have on Andy’s show. I tried to express my true opinion in a review that ended up being less objective then it probably should have been. I apologize for that. I just felt such a complete dislike for Andy’s show that I couldn’t write a review that didn’t express that. In short, I thank you for your opinion of my review, but I humbly disagree. Again, best.

-Tom Pandich

So that’s the gist of the season. It is quite possibly the worst television show I have ever seen. Make all the jokes you want about MTV being horrible for its programming, but this show goes far beyond that. This is New Love Boat bad. This is Cop Rock bad. This is My Mother the Car bad. I cannot recommend this television show to anyone for any reason. This is the first time I’ve ever given anything a zero for any reason. The Andy Milonakis Show has earned it though.

The Video

The episodes look nice. Andy’s acne is crisp and clear in every episode as is every square inch of his horrible plaid shirts. Considering this television show is less then a year old, there’s no surprise that the video is pretty solid.

The Audio

Again, recent show. Decent audio. Next.

The Extras

If there is one thing that I love, it’s extras that give me more of something I hate.

Commentaries: Each episode has a cast commentary. One of the episodes features an alternative angle commentary where you can watch Ralphie, the show’s behemoth of a man, eat an entire pizza in an episode. The commentaries are completely uninformative and amount to Andy and friends laughing at their antics and complementing themselves on how great they are.

Un-Aired Skits: A plethora of unaired skits. Considering how bad the skits in the actual show are, I haven’t a clue why these awful skits got cut. There sure are a lot of them though.

Extended Scenes: Joy. Longer skits…

Featurette: Andy Goes to Hollywood There’s nothing quite like a featurette that is essentially another skit. Andy invites his friends out to Hollywood but he’s become a big shot with no time for his friends. He won’t even wear his trademark pancake!!!!!111111 It’s ok though as Ralphie saves Andy from a hideously obese Michael Myers and Andy realizes how much he loves his friends. There, I saved you five minutes.

Cast Interviews: Fake interviews with the cast about how much of an asshole Andy is. Double joy.

Trailers: More crap on DVD from MTV that I will never ever watch now as this set has traumatized me.

In closing, it’s nice to see Paramount put some effort into producing a huge amount of extras for a show for once. Still, why did it have to be this show that got such a large set of extras. If you like Andy, you’ll love these extras. If you don’t, then every single one of these extras will be worthless to you. The inclusion of an alternate video angle commentary and the trailers get a point a piece from me. The rest of the stuff can go burn in DVD hell as far as I’m concerned.
