The Reality of Wrestling: Wrestlemania Dream Card
By Phil Clark & J.D. Speich

With Wrestlemania under a week away, we felt it was time to reflect, as most do, on some of the greatest matches in Wrestlemania history. However, instead of doing another cliché Top 10 or Top 20 list or whatever, we decided to go in a different direction. What we’ve done is create our dream card composed of Wrestlemania matches. We gave ourselves a set of rules to follow in choosing the matches we did. We tried to follow the rules and put together a terrific card up-and-down. Take a peak, and think of using this at your Wrestlemania party to pass any pre-show time you might have.

RULES
1. A wrestler can be on the card for a maximum of two matches
2. There can be 2 world title matches since there are two brands with world titles
3. There can only be one IC and tag title match respectively
4. Our personal thoughts on the match
5. Historical importance
6. Position on the card when the match actually took place

The Reality is…this was not easy. A lot of title matches had to be passed up due to the constrictions on title matches and even position on the card came up in a few cases as well. Overall, we stand by our choices and think that we made the most with what we had. To us, this was our way of paying homage to the matches that made Wrestlemania an event that can sell based on the name alone (something no other wrestling event can do anymore). It was also a fun nostalgia trip for two guys who grew up during the Attitude Era and like to look back at matches that make us remember when The E’s product was a lot more appetizing and a lot less depressing.
