In Hindsight – Didn't Chris Daughtry win Survivor?

Archive

It’s been one of those weeks where I’ve been rushed and stressed out, so nothing but links and “The Week… In Hindsight” for ya.

IP Linkage:
Dora exploras the Mystery Spot. No, not that one. That would be too easy.

Matt marvels at the mystery of new ‘Lost’ episodes.

Mike looks at hockey.

Reverend Sick looks at the impact of Marc Ratner and Rampage joining the UFC.

The Week… In Hindsight:
Thursday:
‘My Name is Earl’ (NBC) – Not muchto say about the flashback show besides “helluva lot of fun”. Nice to see Donnie (Silas Weir Mitchell) again and it’ll be interesting to see if they use him more next year.

‘The Office’ (NBC) – A repeat, but one I hadn’t seen. Any time you get to have Dwight power tripping, though, is okay by me.

Sunday:
‘Cold Case’ (CTV, ABC)
‘Desparate Housewives’ (CTV, ABC) – I can understand that they need some tension between Bree and Marc Cherry’s surrogate, but it’s starting to border on the unreal. First, why doesn’t that department store have an alarm system? Second, wouldn’t the kid smell wine on Bree’s breath? And third, what parent would let their kid steal their credit card whether or not they threatened them?

Monday:
Man, what a long day. I got denied at customs trying to fly to the US, so I had to take a later flight (on an Embraer puddlejumper, no less) and, well, that takes a lot out of you.

‘Prison Break’ (Fox) – With regard to Michael losing some flesh – ouch. Oh, and Ro Laren is quickly becoming a “That Girl” with respect to her guest appearances on fan favourite shows, isn’t she? Also, with the missing piece of the blueprints, and the need to go through the psycho ward, will we be seeing Haywire (Silas Weir Mitchell – the guy who plays Donnie on ‘My Name is Earl’) again?

’24’ (Fox)

Tuesday:
‘American Idol’ (Fox) – In regards to what Simon said about Chris Daughtry, a while back when they did the ‘World Idol’ competition, Simon said many of the same things to Belgian winner Peter Evrad as he did to Chris. I think Peter still finished top 5, so while Chris should take notes from Simon, I don’t think there’s a need to stray too far from his roots, especially since there’s a few other competitors (Paris, Bucky, Kellie) that have done the same thing.

Overall, the show sucked, marred by poor song selection and underwhelming vocals. We’ll see if business picks back up next week.

‘The Unit’ (CBS) – This episode seemed rather tame for some reason. I can’t put my finger on it, but it just seems that way.

‘The Amazing Race’ (CBS) – So far, it’s been a two-horse race between BJ and Tyler (the Hippies) and Eric and Jeremy (the Frat Boys). They haven’t made too many mistakes, and consequently they’ve been consistently ahead of the other teams, finishing either first or second in all four legs. I’m not sure that we’ve ever really seen two teams dominate the field like they have, but there’s still seven or so legs to go, and anything can happen to knock one or both of these teams out of competition.

It’s interesting to note that the last three teams to be eliminated were the all-female teams. None of the male-female teams have been eliminated yet, although Ray and Yolanda have been making too many mistakes, and they could be gone next.

Wednesday:
‘Lost’ – Will be covered next week.
‘American Idol’ (Fox) – Lisa Tucker was pretty much an obvious choice to go, seeing as she’d been in the bottom three two weeks in a row. Then again, Melissa O’Neil was in that position early and she won Canadian Idol. Mind you, Melissa actually improved as time went on. Lisa… didn’t. She never really put it together. Katherine in the bottom three is likely an anomaly, and Ace is probably going to see the bottom three two more times before he finally gets the boot.

Next week Idol goes Country, so look for Bucky and/or Kellie to be in the bottom three.

That’s it for this week.
