– I can’t believe I’m typing this, but on the official WWE.com Backlash page, the first official match has been announced: Vince and Shane McMahon vs. God and Shawn Michaels.

– Also on WWE.com, Evan Denbaum interviewed Tyson Tomko about his release. In one response, he says he asked for his release to go to Japan and hone his skills: “It was a mutual agreement between me and WWE. I talked to WWE officials and there’s not anything going on with me right now. So, rather than sit around, I’m taking matters into my own hands. I’m going to go over to Japan. I’ve always admired the style there – the brutality. I’m a big fan of Bruiser Brody. And I just want to go over there and experience that. And while there’s a lull in my career here at WWE, I decided to take the opportunity to go over to Japan and hone my skills.”

– With regards to the recent re-signings/tryouts given to Chuck Palumbo, Test, Mark Jindrak, Henry Godwin and others, the Wrestling Observer newsletter (click here for subscription information) has reported that Vince McMahon gave Johnny Ace the go-ahead to bring naturally big mid-carders in, as slots have opened up after recent firings. The thought process is that they are affordable with low enough downsides.
