ULTIMATE FIGHT NIGHT IV

I don’t know if I’d call UFN4 a disappointment, but it sure wasn’t what I expected. For the record, all of my predictions were pure bullshit, as usual. I stink.

  • Chris Leben defeated Luigi Fioravanti by unanimous decision

I don’t think anyone, including both fighters, expected this one to go to a decision. I don’t know if Leben underestimated Fioravanti or if he just didn’t bring his A-game, but “The Crippler” seemed like he was just going through the motions for three rounds. Where was the explosive rage we saw against Jorge Rivera at UFN3?

  • Josh Neer defeated Joe Stevenson by unanimous decision (29-28 on all cards)

I knew Neer would be a tough opponent for Stevenson, but I never imagined that “Daddy” would get rocked so hard by “The Dentist.” What is with these nicknames? Stevenson blew his load in the first with a ridiculous amount of submission attempts. He nearly had Neer at the end of the round, but Neer hung in there. Stevenson looked gassed for the rest of the fight, and Neer kept the pressure up. Smart fighting from Neer; a disappointing performance from the TUF2 Welterweight winner. Look for both men to drop down to 155 the next time we see them in the Octagon.

  • Rashad Evans defeated Sam Hoger by split decision (29-28 Hoger, 29-28 30-27 Evans)

This fight could not have sucked more. These two assclowns actually made Matt Lindland look exciting. I don’t think Evans ever did any real damage to Hoger in this fight, but he kept busy the whole time. The decision could have gone either way. By the end of the second, I didn’t even care who won. I just wanted it to be over with.

  • Stephan Bonnar defeated Keith Jardine by unanimous decision

Oh, sweet controversy. This was an all-out war, and I loved every minute of it. Keith Jardine impressed the shit out of me during this fight. Rogan and Goldberg kept mentioning Bonnar’s height and size, but Jardine is a f*cking monster at 205. Bonnar and Jardine traded punches and kicks for three rounds. I don’t know how in hell they were able to stand when it was all over. The way I saw it, this fight was a draw, but apparently the judges had their heads up their asses. Great f*ckin’ fight, but a shitty decision.

Non-televised results:

  • Chael Sonnen defeated Trevor Prangley by unanimous decision. (30-27 on all cards)
  • Josh Koscheck defeated Ansar Chalangov by RNC at 3:29 of Rd. 1
  • Dan Christison defeated Brad Imes by Arm Bar at 3:34 in Rd. 3
  • Jon Fitch defeated Josh Burkman by RNC at 4:58 of Rd. 2
  • Luke Cummo defeated Jason Von Flue by unanimous decision

THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER 3: TITO LIKES TO CRY…PUSSY

First of all, I’d like to apologize to Shelly for the 24 hour delay on her first TUF3 recap. Moving into a new house on Thursday and subsequently busting a couple toes are my only excuses.

The premiere episode of TUF3 was everything I hoped it would be. No more stupid challenges; just train hard and fight harder. This season’s crop of hopefuls are all batshit crazy, and I love it. It’s like they went out of their way to find sixteen guys that are more f*cked up than Ortiz and Shamrock. Then there’s Ortiz and Shamrock: “Mr. Nice Guy” Tito is slowly diriving Ken insane, while he waits for “Asshole” Tito to surface. They’ve only aired one episode, and I already love it more than the first two seasons. Enough of my bullshit; go read Shelly’s column. She’s much more well-spoken than I am…and prettier.

UFC ALL ACCESS TONIGHT ON SPIKE

From UFC.com:

Can’t wait until Saturday night and UFC 59 – Reality Check? Get an early week fix of mixed martial arts action on Spike TV with two hard-hitting shows that will get you ready for the fight card of the year. At 9:00pm UFC All Access takes you inside the world of UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski as he prepares for his title defense against Tim Sylvia, and at 9:30pm, UFC 59: Reality Check Countdown previews the fight card, which will be held at the sold-out Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California.

This pleases me. Making this a monthly show is a brilliant move. All that’s left is to make it an hour show.

GSP GETS HIS DUE

From MMAWeekly.com:

A press conference was held today at the Sports Centre Café in Toronto, Canada as Georges “Rush” St.Pierre received official word that he gets his much deserved title shot against Matt Hughes. MMAWeekly.com has learned the event most likely will happen in September.

St.Pierre was extremely happy when it was announced saying quote “Now its official. Now it’s for real. It’s my dream come true, its all about respect and I finally have it…YES FINALLY!” St.Pierre exclaimed.

It’s about f*cking time. Put this on the same card as Liddell vs. Babalu and you’ve got a killer pay-per-view.

UFC 59 PREVIEW DELAYED

I’m still trying to get things in order at the new house, so look for my UFC 59 preview on Wednesday.
