At this point it is very unlikely that an Austin/Hogan match will happen at WrestleMania XXIII, or ever. This is almost entirely down to Austin, whose comments about the potential match on the Hall of Fame show were firmly tongue-in-cheek. Backstage he and Bret Hart were said to be enjoying getting some measure of revenge on Hogan. Austin was upset because Hogan had talked about Austin/Hogan on a radio interview as though it was a done deal, while Hart was disappointed to have seen Hogan’s disparaging remarks about him for the fabled ‘Bret Hart: Screwed’ DVD that WWE produced but in the end did not release. For many years, Hart had not believed people that warned him about Hogan’s politics and egotism – with particular reference to the WWF in 1993 and WCW in 1998.
