A Case of the Mondays

So, have allergies been atrocious for anybody else this past week? I mean, mine usually aren’t very bad, but since, say, Thursday of last week, I’ve felt the cold hand of death on my shoulder. And what is it about bad allergies, particularly the really itchy eyes, that makes you feel so exhausted? It really sucks.

Oh, I did want to ask a question to any of my web savvy readers out there. Does anybody know where I can download some free software to make flash graphics? Any suggestions would be great.

SMALLVILLE:

Overall a pretty good episodes, one that brought up an interesting quandary: What if saving one person causes a chain reaction that results in the deaths of many others? It’s an interesting predicament to ponder.

As I’ve said, ad nauseum, I’m not really a fan of this whole Lex/Lana thing, and my feelings towards this grew at least three-fold following this episode. It just seems to me like their relationship took a HUGE jump, like I had missed a bunch of episodes or something. It’s like they went from spontaneously kissing, to being confused about where they stand, and then, BAM, they’re making persistently making out and telling people they’re seeing each other. If they’re going to do this relationship, I just feel like it needs a slower progression. It just seems completely out of nowhere to suddenly have them boyfriend and girlfriend.

Along with that, no matter how angry Lana is with Clark, I find it REALLY hard to believe that she would ever put him and Lex on the same level. When Clark remarked that she can’t trust Lex, and she responded “like I can trust you?” it just rung as highly unbelievable. “Trust” is about a lot more than always being open and honest. Yes, Clark has hidden things from Lana, and she has no way of knowing why, but he’s always been there for her and he’s an undeniably good person with a great moral center. Even if she is “dating” Lex, I can’t imagine that she can see the difference between the two of them.

Oh, and I will not criticize the episode for revolving around another maniacal meteor freak, because this villain was actually a murderer before he was given his abilities.

24:

Another great episode. Man, this season is more exhilarating than any one in the past, and that says something.

I’ve heard a lot of buzz about the possibility that Heller really is still alive, but I don’t buy it. The same thing was said about Edgar, and we saw how that turned out. Besides, aside from Jack, the show doesn’t really pull the old bait and switch when it comes to major characters’ deaths. I’m in awe about how many major characters they’ve killed off this season. Yet Chloe keeps on livin’.

I do have to admit, though, that they did provide a believable excuse as to why Henderson didn’t destroy the tape, though. That’s a big relief. Also, how about that bomb that Walt didn’t actually commit suicide and that the President actually had him killed? I’m also curious to see who these guys are that are evidently the strings.

I continue to enjoy the fact that Karen is catching onto the fact that something isn’t kosher with President Logan and how things have gone down since the beginning of the day. I especially enjoyed her snide “that’s a first” remark after Mike notified her that the President is making his own decisions now.

I was also pretty shocked that Logan openly told Martha about what he had done. I’m still interested in seeing what happened to Agent Pierce.

SURVIVOR:

Wow, what an episode is all I have to say. I mean, truly, this was the first time in many seasons that I genuinely had no clue whatsoever who would be voted off. I mean, Shane was leading the troops to vote Danielle off, but meanwhile Danielle, Courtney, Cirie, and Terry were throwing a fast one and actually trying to vote off Aras, but in reality, Cirie was leading the charge to get herself, Aras, and Danielle to ACTUALLY vote off Courtney. Which plan would work? I truly didn’t know going into Tribal Council.

If last episode showed anything, it was who is really running the show with Casaya, and it’s undoubtedly Cirie. Consider this: Shane and Aras both wanted her as part of their alliance, Terry wanted her as part of his alliance….basically, it seems like everybody wants her, which has quite valuably allowed her to just sit back and evaluate instead of actively pursuing others. She’s most definitely in the driver’s seat.

The problem is, and I don’t think anybody has brought this up yet, but now Cirie is most definitely on the radar. The reason she has lasted this long is because she’s been off the radar. It won’t be long before people put together the pieces and realize what she’s doing, and considering she has little chance of ever winning an immunity challenge, I really don’t see her making it to the final two.

It’s really easy to sit back and say this without being in the situation, but I really think that Terry should have thrown the challenge for the SUV. The fact of the matter is, he is in a situation where he absolutely needs to make allies, and the last thing he needs to do is make himself seem like even MORE of a threat to the two people he has the best chance of bonding with.

Oh, and considering how often this show distorts bare asses, breasts, and other no-no’s, is there no way that we can’t blur out the armpit hair of the really hot female on the show?

THE OC:

Looks like things are heating up, but man, you’d think that Sandy and Kirsten would notice that the same exact time every calendar year, they go through major marital problems. You know how I think they should resolve this? Have them get separated. Aside from Dawson’s Creek, it seems like they never actually go through with these issues.

So, like, did Ryan kill that guy?

Still love Rachel Bilson. Oh, so I think I may have become a bit TOO obsessed with her. Last week we received a free magazine at my house, and Rachel Bilson was on the cover. So not only did I read it, but I also learned that she was in a very serious car accident when she was a teenager, and she like still suffers from occasional memory loss and migraines to this day. So anyway, after reading that article and realizing she could have died, I actually felt like I would have been deprived.

Yes, I have never met the girl, and didn’t even know she existed two years ago, but my adoration for her as grown that much.

INSTANT STAR:

Well, I know there are a lot of Canadian readers on this site, so I thought I’d throw this comment out there, regarding last weekend’s episode:

Is anybody else sensing a little Flowers in the Attic here? Where the mother gradually becomes more and more distant from the children, and after falling for a new man basically slowly begins to disown the children, creating a great deal of tension between herself and the daughter? That was my immediate impression following the episode.

I also like how last season mostly painted the father as a bad guy (kinda sorta), while this season makes him seem like a real good guy, while portraying the mother negatively.

Anyway, that’s it for this week. For anybody who cares, I thought South Park was a lot stronger last week than its previous showing, but still kinda faltered with the ending. Overall, though, a bunch of laughs, particularly Cartman taunting Kyle while he slept, and Cartman telling Kyle “you just have to save me” as Kyle struggled to swim them to safety.

Hope the week treats everybody well. And Lost actually has a, ya’ know, new episode!
