[TNA] Update on Joe’s Injury, Former WWE Star Backstage & More

Archive

There are mixed reports on the extent of Samoa Joe’s injury:

– PWInsider.com is reporting that Samoa Joe got an MRI last night, and was diagnosed with a strained MCL and a torn PCL. He will be resting the knee, which had been nagging him since a Cleveland Ring of Honor show a few weeks ago.

– WrestlingObserver.com reported that both ligaments were torn, but admitted that details were sketchy.

– PWTorch.com says that the injury could sideline him for two to three weeks, and it consists of a first degree tear of his PCL and a second degree tear of his MCL, with no ACL damage. The Torch is also saying that Joe was apologetic for getting injured, went to the hospital with AJ, Daniels, Low Ki and Terry Taylor after being treated by TNA’s backstage orthopedic surgeon, and that he should be fully healed within two months. He will likely wear a knee brace when he returns to action.

As previously reported, Joe was taken to the hospital last night after his knee locked up during an Xplosion match with David Young. We’ll update you as more info is available.

Other notes from last night’s iMPACT! tapings:

– Brian Lee (Chainz in WWE) was backstage visiting.
– Rhino banged up his ribs last night towards the end of his match with Abyss but was okay.
– Jackie Gayda remains with TNA even though she won’t be ringside now that she’s pregnant. She was “fired” by Gail Kim (from what?) on the Sacrifice PPV after revealing that she is pregnant, possibly in a reference to WWE firing a pregnant Dawn Marie last year.
– Shane Douglas is out of rehab and will be returning to an on-camera role soon (see our TNA spoilers for more). He continues to be an agent behind-the-scenes.
– One rumor going around is that Kevin Nash will face Chris Sabin at Slammiversary, although it is yet to be confirmed.
