Mitch Willer – Sylvia Sidney…I Love Her Still! Review

Mitch Willer

The Inside Pulse:
Mitch Willer is a refreshing artist with his debut album, Sylvia Sidney…I Love Her Still! that reflects the heart genuinely better than most artists on mainstream radio today. In his biography on mitchwiller.com, he’s described as playing like Peanuts character Schroeder, singing like Linus, hurting like Charlie Brown and boogies as good as Snoopy. Willer has the ability to represent the voice of a audience that is always looking for their voice, their man to cheer on to get the girl he wants.

Positives:
Willer has a excellent songwriting ability blending in with his gift of playing the piano that is reflected throughout the album. His songs often resonating in the listener’s mind after the CD is done spinning. “Memories of April” is a beautiful song about not wanting to let go of the comfort of a relationship that’s lingering for one and not the other with “And you’ve told me a thousand times before / We’re not that way anymore.” “My Kind of Fun” is a upbeat tune that would a great releasing single, about wanting someone to make up their mind about them because their mind is already made up.

Negatives:
I would have liked to see the album as a whole blend into each song better. The connecting theme is dealing with romantic relationships, dealing with the relationship that was never meant to be but loving them anyway. The theme is important and won’t be lost on the listener, however sometimes it’s hard to escape the mood of one song to go into the next song and recover from the heartbreak.

Cross-Breed:
Emm Gryner, Coldplay, the guy at the bar drinking away one bad fight

Reasons to buy:
Sylvia Sidney…I Love Her Still! is a excellent and impressive solo debut album for Mitch Miller that has it’s own personal style of celebrating music of trying to understand love, relationships and the arrival and departure of people whether you are ready to let them go or not.
