[WWE] Rob Van Dam Wins WWE Title

Archive

– At tonight’s ECW One Night Stand PPV (click here for Alex Lucard’s full report), Rob Van Dam defeated John Cena for the WWE Title, and then was announced as the new ECW World Heavyweight Champion. With Edge interfering in the match and Paul Heyman making the actual three-count, however, the groundwork was laid for some sort of controversy at tomorrow’s RAW and/or Tuesday’s ECW debut on SciFi. WWE.com has posted this on the main page, which hints as much:

CENA SCREWED
John Cena lost the WWE Championship to Rob Van Dam at ECW One Night Stand. The loss came after Edge speared Cena and Paul Heyman counted Cena’s shoulders to the mat, ending the Extreme Rules Match.

UPDATE: WWE.com has changed the story to read the following…

EXTREME SHOCKER
John Cena apparently lost the WWE Championship to Rob Van Dam at ECW One Night Stand. The apparent loss came after Edge speared Cena and Paul Heyman counted Cena’s shoulders to the mat, ending the Extreme Rules Match.

– Also at One Night Stand, JBL announced that he is replacing Tazz as Smackdown color man.

– WWE.com has added a video of Trevor Murdoch reviewing Fast & the Furious and a story about HHH having to face all five members of the Spirit Squad on tomorrow’s RAW. We’ll have a full preview up once WWE.com updates it to include fallout from tonight’s PPV.
