The Weekly Pulse: TV's Second Wife

Archive

I have some good news for everyone out there. I got myself I new TiVo! It’s the new one with the Dual Tuner in it. What does that mean? Well..I can record two shows at once. But really since I still have my other TiVo in the other room, I could record three shows at once. Why would I want to do that? Didn’t you hear about ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ moving to Thursdays at the same time as ‘The O.C.’?! I know what you are thinking..you say just watch ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ since it’s the “better” show. That would be simple, except that I recap both of those shows for InsidePulse. That would have been a problem with my old TiVo. But now have no fear..I am up and running and ready for the Fall!

However, right now it is Summer and it’s my favorite time of year. Not usually for TV watching, but this summer is the exception. With my new TiVo I can watch a lot of new shows that I have never seen before. And that is what I did this past week when I got my new TiVo. What shows did I watch for the first time? Lets see..there was ‘The Closer’, ‘Falcon Beach’, ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’, ‘Windfall’, ‘The 4400’, ‘Dog Bites Man’, ‘Rescue Me’, ‘Tuesday Night Book Club’, and ‘Saved’! Pretty good list, but only if I had HBO or SHOWTIME. That would be sweet. I am seriously thinking about getting HBO or SHOWTIME, but not both. I just don’t know which to get. I’m leaning towards HBO, though. I could watch ‘Entourage’ and ‘Dane Cook’s Tourgasm’ then. It will cost me more money, though, and I don’t know if it’s worth it. Is it worth it? Which has the better shows..HBO or SHOWTIME? Any advice I can get on this subject would be appreciated it. And if you want to send a small donation to the cause, which is helping me pay for my new TiVo or my new “premium” channels..then go for it. In return, I will give you a shout-out to being my #1 fan! How about that deal? Huh..any takers? If so, hit me up and I will give you all the details.

Okay..now that I have that out of the way..wait..I forget to tell you all what I thought of the shows I saw for the first time. Here is a quick rundown. ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ and ‘Dog Bites Man’ were both funny shows. ‘The Closer’ was interesting to a degree, but it’s 50/50 if I will keep watching that show. Same with ‘The 4400’. ‘Rescue Me’ was a fun show, even if I don’t like Denis Leary. Probably give it another shot. And ‘Falcon Beach’ is a rip-off of ‘The O.C.’ And it’s a Canadian show, so it can’t be any good. Just kidding guys. I will probably give it a few more episodes, since it has some good triangles in it. But it is nowhere near as funny as ‘The O.C.’, which means it is nowhere near as good as ‘The O.C.’ ‘Tuesday Night Book Club’ was a little odd and a little boring. At least there are a few hot women on it, like Sara, the party girl. Call me! And ‘Saved’. I didn’t watch all of it yet, so I will have to comment on that show later. Oh..and I said I would comment on ‘Windfall’ this week, so here goes. It’s 50/50 on the “watch” list as well. That’s about all for now since pilots mostly SUCK! I think what helps all of these shows is the fact that they air during the summer months. I probably wouldn’t watch most of these shows during the Fall, since there are more options. But holy crap..as I write this on Tuesday..I noticed that I have both of my TiVos going and I’m recording three different shows from 7 to 10 p.m. (Central Time). I watch a lot of stuff! But it’s all good.

Anyways I guess that is enough talk from me. Because you know..I have another column that I am debuting this week..and I don’t want to bore you too soon. So here is the week that was at IPTV!!

Seinfeld Quote of the Week

“Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?!?!”Kramer after being called insane by Jerry

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Columns a.k.a. Summertime Blues!!

Kevin Wong talked, last week, about ‘Gameshow Marathon’ and the problems associated with that show. The show is fun and good and all of that. It does have one problem, though. That would be Ricki Lake as the host! I agree with Kevin! Ricki SUCKS! He also talks about why the host of a game show is so important to the success of the show. This week he talks about “free” television and satellites. What does that mean? Check it out for yourself! He also has a variety of comments on shows. Rogan is the man! And I love Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles! That is all.

Dora Malone tries to stir up some controversy again with ‘Survivor’. She tells you who she thinks is the best player to NEVER win ‘Survivor’! Who may that be? Find out for yourself, but be prepared to read. It’s one of her longest columns she has ever written! How can you miss that?!

Mathan Erhardt didn’t have a column last week, because the site was down or something. He’s back this week and he talks about a few shows. Those would include ‘Huff’, ‘Windfall’, and ‘Rescue Me’. WOW! I went 2 for 3 this week! That’s a record as I batted .667. It may get better as I try to check out some of the same summer shows as Mathan does. He tells you which ones he will be trying out this summer. And who knows..maybe I will get HBO or SHOWTIME and really get things going! If my loyal readers want to help in that, then you know what to do! Mathan also has finale thoughts on ‘Lost’, ’24’, ‘The Unit’, and ‘Big Love’! That’s a SUPER column if I ever saw one.

Sarah Quigley has concluding thoughts on this season of ‘The Apprentice’! She predicted that Sean would win or so she says. Find out what else she had to say about that show! What will she do now? We will have to see!

Matt Basilo talks a little more ‘Survivor’ this week and he has his thoughts on the first episode of the new season of ‘The 4400’. He was not as lost as I was, since he watched this show before now. So go see what he has to say about it. Oh..and if you like movies..he has thoughts on the new X-Men movie!

Farah Syed talks about something she calls “trailer-oomph”! Say what? Apparently it has to do with pretty male faces and previews for TV shows. And one show is combining both elements this Fall. That show is ‘Heroes’ on NBC. The trailers or previews for the show look pretty, because of the guys..I suppose. But will the show be successful? Yeah..I don’t know what she is talking about either, so go read for yourself!

Recaps a.k.a. Me and Bob!!

Bob Reiss joins the party this week as he starts off his recapping of ‘The 4400’! So I don’t need to talk about that show anymore since Matt and Bob have it covered!

I do another recap of the ‘Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat’! More MTV goodness to come!

This week we had 2 TV on DVD reviews!

Travis Leamons reviews a show on HBO and one I want to check out. But maybe I will go the “Travis route” and buy the DVDs instead of getting HBO. Sounds like a good idea to me. Could be cheaper in the end. But I could be missing some other great shows. Back to the point of this, though. Travis “hugs it out” with Entourage: The Complete Second Season!

Mike Noyes has the ninth volume of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection! Mike is excited, because this volume features the Ed Wood film, The Sinister Urge! It’s so bad, it’s good?!

Celebrities a.k.a. The Dream Team a.k.a. Double K a.k.a. Katie and Kaysar!!!

‘Road Rules’, Katie, has her behind-the-scenes information and comments on the second episode of the ‘Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat’!

The debut of Kaysar! Surprise! ‘Big Brother’ is around the corner and what better way to kick things off..well besides my tournament of course..than to have Kaysar from ‘Big Brother 6’ on IPTV! Will he be voted back into the house this summer? It’s up to the fans to decide, but if our tournament is any indication, then he is a LOCK to be in ‘Big Brother 7’!

The Weekly Pulse Weekly Poll

The tournament continues! The new polls and matchups and how you can vote is further down. Keep reading to continue your voting in the “Best ‘Big Brother’ Houseguest EVER!” tournament!!

Time to Talk a.k.a. Quarterfinal Round in the “Best ‘Big Brother’ Houseguest EVER” Tournament!!

The second round of voting is done! We have our “All-Star” cast of ‘Big Brother’ houseguests. We have our “Final 12”. Who is in our cast? Well..here are the results of the second round:

Drew Daniel (BB5) – 26
Will Wikle (BB5) – 15
Bill “Bunky” Miller (BB2) – 10

Holly King (BB5) – 3
Kaysar Ridha (BB6) – 49
Jee Choe (BB4) – 2

Jun Song (BB4) – 11
Jennifer “Nakomis” Dedmon (BB5) – 18
James Rhine (BB6) – 23

Danielle Reyes (BB3) – 25
Marvin Latimer (BB5) – 19
Nathan Marlow (BB4) – 8

Will Kirby (BB2) – 37
Jamie Kern (BB1) – 4
Howie Gordon (BB6) – 11

Josh Souza (BB1) – 12
Scott Long (BB5) – 14
Rachel Plencner (BB6) – 26

Lori Valenti (BB5) – 9
Erika Landin (BB4) – 25
Marcellas Reynolds (BB3) – 18

Michael “Cowboy” Ellis (BB5) – 12
Jason Guy (BB3) – 36
Krista Stegall (BB2) – 4

Lisa Donahue (BB3) – 23
David Lane (BB4) – 8
Jase Wirey (BB5) – 20

Nicole Nilson Schaffrich (BB2) – 19
Dana Varela (BB4) – 17
Chiara Berti (BB3) – 15

Eddie McGee (BB1) – 2
Janelle Pierzina (BB6) – 47
Karen O’Neil-Ganci (BB5) – 3

Alison Irwin (BB4) – 23
Diane Henry (BB5) – 12
Jack Owens, Jr. (BB4) – 17

So we have our “All-Star” cast for ‘Big Brother’. There are 7 guys and 5 girls. It breaks down with 4 people from BB6, 3 from BB3, 2 from BB2 and BB4, and 1 from BB5. That’s a little surprising. BB6 got the most and I expected that, but more came from BB3 and BB2 than BB4 and BB5. Interesting, but I think it’s a good mix of people. What do you think of our “All-Stars”? The votes were close on some of these, so this could have been totally different. But there it is.

Now then we have our “All-Star” lineup. However, the real thing begins Wednesday when CBS reveals the list of 20 houseguests that everyone can vote on to get into the actual house for ‘Big Brother 7: All Stars’! Make sure you participate in that. But we are not done either. Our tournament still goes on. We continue with our “Final 12” and go all the way until we crown a winner!

Remember..to help with your voting, you may need a reminder of who these people were. So I suggest you go to these websites to refresh your memory on Seasons #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, and #6!

Here are the brackets again:

“Best ‘Big Brother’ Houseguest EVER!”

Tell your friends and any ‘Big Brother’ fans you might know. Spread the word as this is YOUR chance to decide which ‘Big Brother’ houseguest is the greatest EVER!

That’s all I got this week! Any questions, comments, or suggestions are always welcome, especially if it is dealing with this new tournament or how you can donate to the cause!

Remember..“Life Ain’t Always Beautiful, but It’s a Beautiful Ride!”

And as always…“You Can’t Fight Fate!”. See you when I see you!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
