Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat – (Episode 6)

Cue the music..cue the entrances..cue the video game effects with each team being shown together as it gets loaded onto your TV or computer screen.
The “alumni” are dressed in black, while the “fresh meat” are dressed in red. Oh..and it’s TJ Lavin as the host playing this “video game”…

We open with everyone drinking shots at a bar..imagine that. Tonya and Johnnie try to work out their differences and start winning challenges. Wes whines to Johanna on the phone that he is all alone and he is not having fun here anymore. However, he says will defeat the other teams one-by-one.

Evan has a problem. He pulled his groin. He has some kind of hernia. And it’s not good at all. He’s going to tough it out for now, though. And not tell Coral until he has to.

The teams get a clue for the next challenge. “Try not to get out of line!” Diem likes being here since it makes her forget about her “real” challenge after this game and that’s cancer. If she succeeds here, she can succeed anywhere or something like that.

TJ now explains the rules of this challenge to the teams. It is called “Crossed Paths”. There is a rope suspended above the water attached to two opposite platforms. One team will go at a time. Each member of the team will start on one of the platforms. They will crawl along the rope going towards each other. In the middle, they will cross paths. That’s the difficult part. They have to make it to the other side. If they fall, they fall 25 feet into the water below. That scares Casey a little bit. The team with the fastest time wins the challenge as usual. Chanda says she just wants to win. No second or third places. Coral and Evan don’t seem to care to win this challenge at all. They make out the order for the teams.

Derrick and Diem are first. Diem is afraid of heights. But she is REALLY afraid of alligators, so she pretends they are in the water below so she doesn’t fall. Lets see if that works. They start off okay, but Diem is a little slower than Derrick. Trouble as they pass each other, but Derrick hangs on and he makes it to the other side. Diem is stuck in the middle, though. She says she wants to fall, but she doesn’t yet. She wants to show the others that she is a strong person. We take our first break as she hangs in the balance!!

Commercial time!

We come back and she is still hanging on. Darrell says that Diem has a lot of heart. Diem finally makes it across and Derrick is amazed by Diem. Diem is excited that she made it.

Shane and Linette are up next. Shane slips and falls in the middle. He is disappointed in himself. Shane is okay being the “gay guy”, but not the “weak guy”.

Tonya and Johnnie are up. Tonya feels that they have to prove themselves to the others to stay in the game. Johnnie claims he is doing this with all arms to see if he can. Interesting and it works as Johnnie makes it across. Derrick is impressed. Tonya makes it across and it seems to be a fast time.

Darrell and Aviv are up. Darrell motors on through to the other side. He then cheers on Aviv. She gets stuck in the middle of the rope. She says she can’t go on. Darrell tries to encourage her, but she falls into the water. Aviv is disappointed as you would expect.

Tina and Kenny are next. Kenny slips early on. Tina slides across and they meet each other. Tina’s butt ends up in Kenny’s face, but they both make it across. Kenny knows that they are possible candidates for exile, but he feels they did good enough job to stick around a little longer.

Wes and Casey are up. Wes worries about Casey as usual. But he thinks her size will be an advantage in this challenge. It just comes down to whether she can tough it out and make it through. Wes powers his way across and does a few pull-ups at the end to be cocky and piss off a few people. Casey can’t make it, though. And she wants to fall. Wes tells her to fall, ONLY if she will kick ass in exile. She agrees and sorta does a belly flop into the water. Wes says this game is so easy, but he still has to be stuck with Casey as a partner and “coach” her on how to quit the right way.

Theo and Chanda are next. Both do a fantastic job and get across easily. They think they did it in record time.

Katie and Eric are up. Eric slips in the middle and does an extreme belly flop into the water! Tina jokes that a tidal wave just hit everyone with that flop into the water.

Coral and Evan are the last team to go. Evan is in pain, but he tries not to think about it right now. Evan makes it across with little problems and Coral does the same. Evan says they did their best and with his injury..things could change around here in a hurry. They could be a target next if they don’t keep up their winning pace.

TJ now comes in to tell us the results:

#9 – Shane and Linette – Did Not Finish (DNF)
#9 – Darrell and Aviv – DNF
#9 – Wes and Casey – DNF
#9 – Katie and Eric – DNF
#5 – Derrick and Diem – 6:30
#4 – Tonya and Johnnie – 2:20
#3 – Tina and Kenny – 2:10
#2 – Coral and Evan – 1:26

#1 and WINNERS – Theo and Chanda – 0:52

Coral is pissed that they came in second. If it’s not first place, it’s nothing. Theo and Chanda discuss who they should put up for exile. Wes and Casey are a given. They also think of Tina and Kenny and Tonya and Johnnie. They have to figure out if they want to be “safe” and just nominate Wes and Casey. Or do they piss off another team and put in Tina and Kenny or Tonya and Johnnie. Big decision, so you know what that means. It’s time for our last break!!

Commercial time!

We come back from the break and TJ tells us who Theo and Chanda put into exile. They go with Wes and Casey. Theo said that Wes ranted about going into exile every time, so Theo granted Wes his wish. He makes fun of Wes a little bit as well. Casey is not surprised by that decision at all. Wes has been waiting for the other teams to start putting their “friends” into exile now. He is happy about this.

Now it’s time for the Exile Deliberation! Coral and Evan don’t like being in this room for the first time. Some people suggest Tonya. Derrick doesn’t really want to do that, but he doesn’t want to the “odd man out” by voting for someone else. Coral and Evan feel that Tonya and Johnnie are a good team and shouldn’t be in exile right now. Katie informs us that she has an alliance with Derrick and Coral.

Time for the votes! Tony and Johnnie go with Tina and Kenny. Katie and Eric go with Tonya and Johnnie. Tina and Kenny go with Tonya and Johnnie. Coral and Evan go with Tina and Kenny. Hmm..interesting. Evan says that Tina and Kenny have underperformed and haven’t done that great. Tina is now pissed, since Coral voted for her and “screwed” her over. Tina says that Coral is supposed to be her friend. Whiner! Darrell and Aviv go with Tonya and Johnnie. Shane and Linette go with Tonya and Johnnie. Derrick and Diem do the same. Tonya is shocked. She feels that she and Johnnie deserve to be her longer than Tina and Kenny. And she would be correct. Tonya just wants everyone to admit that the reason they voted her into exile is because they don’t like her. Diem then tells us that she and Derrick changed the vote. They were going to vote for Tina and Kenny, but their votes wouldn’t had mattered. So they decide to not piss off another team by changing their vote. TJ reminds us that if either team wins the next challenge, then they get a pardon from exile and can pick any team to replace them. Wes is not shocked by the decision. It was the easy way out to pick Tonya and Johnnie.

Derrick and Diem tell Johnnie that it should have been Tina and Kenny going into exile. But Johnnie understands that they are voting on who they don’t like now and people don’t like Tonya.

Derrick then comes to Tonya and says his vote didn’t matter. Tonya said it mattered to her, since Derrick is her friend. Derrick feels bad for Tonya. He didn’t want to kick her out of the game, but he is looking out for himself and Diem first. Tonya is pissed, because the decision to put them in is not based on merit. She wanted someone to have the guts to stand up and just tell her that they don’t like her and that’s why they are going into exile. But no one did that, so it makes it seem like it’s based on merit when it is really not. Tonya says her wrath is about to come out! Yay!

And we are out until next week!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
