Jim Norton ………. Himself

The Show:
If you were a fan of “Last Comic Standing 2”, you may remember Jim Norton as the semi-finalist who got eliminated because he had a couple of projects in development. If you watch Comedy Central, you may remember him as a regular on “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn”. If you don’t watch Comedy Central, you’ll probably remember Jim Norton as that creepy bald guy sitting in “perv row” in your local strip club.

Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about. You know you’ve been there.

Jim’s a conversational comedian who will sometimes shock people more than make them laugh, but one thing you can’t say about him is that his opinions aren’t frank and honest. This is not a guy you should watch expecting to be laughing every second of the show, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking of buying this special.

During the special, Jim talks about touring Iraq, vacations, himself and his (nonexistent) love life. Mostly himself and his (nonexistent) love life. Most of his topics don’t date themselves, so that’s a plus for rewatchability. Be warned though, Jim can be foul-mouthed at times, and seems to have an unnatural affinity towards talking about penises.

Score: 7/10

The DVD:

(Presented in Fullscreen format)
It’s a comedy special. Everything looks good, but if you’re asking me to check to see if there’s edge enhancement on Norton’s ugly mug, you’re crazy.

(English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo)
I can hear all of Norton’s jokes. Works for me.

Special Features:
We’ve got some deleted scenes, and a promo for “Lucky Louie”, which would probably be good if Laura Kightlinger were not involved. There are six deleted scenes, which were probably cut for pacing and to keep the show to 30 minutes. Just as good as the rest of his stuff, really.

Score: 6/10

HBO has created a uniform package style for their “One Night Stand” series, featuring three stills of Jim on the front (see picture at the top), and one more on the back. I have no idea how they managed to find three shots that didn’t give off a “damn, he’s creepy” vibe, but there they are.
