[ECW] Batista to ECW, Heyman Speaks, Angle to Return, Punk to Debut & Latest Ratings

In a really awesome interview with the UK Sun, Paul Heyman discusses why fans should be patient with the NEW ECW, what his goals are, how much of a hand Vince has in the show, who he thinks will be added to the roster soon, and more. Read it here. One interesting note is that ECW will be involved in the “Big Four” WWE pay per view events, and another ECW-only PPV is being planned.

ECW tickets for next Tuesday’s (August 1) show at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC are still on sale. The show will feature the in-ring ECW debut of CM Punk and the return of Kurt Angle, as well as Smackdown’s Batista challenging Big Show for the ECW belt. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.com or by calling (212) 307-7171.

Trinity’s Web site has photos of her recent knee surgery, and ECW.com has added a section of CM Punk videos as well as the latest “Hardcore Hangover” videos from the weekly TV show.

The “storm trooper-like” security guys last night were Doug Basham & Danny “Basham” (Damaja from OVW) Hollie, according to WrestlingObserver.com.

PWTorch is reporting that ECW drew a 2.4 rating, with an average audience of 2.9 million and a 1.9 rating for M18-49/1.6 for M18-34. PWInsider says that quarter-hour ratings were 2.2, 2.2, 2.3, 2.5 and a 3.0 overrun (the highest quarter since the ECW re-launch) and that WWE is confident about the show’s chances of being picked up after the summer run.
