Big Brother All Stars Show Recap, August 1

Archive

Another Tuesday with the hamsters of the BB All-Star house.
Previously, Janelle wins HOH, wants Diane gone to the dismay of James who wants to attack Chill Town. Will pulls strings like he usually does. Janelle nominates Mike Boogie and Erika.

Day 26 in the house (only?) and Erika wonders why she was the one put up as a pawn. She notes that pawns usually end up chatting with Julie Chen in a week. Will is pleased that at least one floater is put up. Janelle says she’d rather have Boogie stay and a floater leave but isn’t telling Erika that. Instead she promises her that she is safe.

James tells Janelle the nominations were good but in the Diary Room, he says he doesn’t understand them, noting they should go after the people going after them.

Janelle tells Will that she didn’t want the tension of nominating two floaters. Will says she has to talk to Boogie about the veto competition. In the DR, Will says his charisma is more effective on Janelle than having Kaysar and James yelling at her. Boogie goes to see Janelle. She says if she wins the veto, she’ll save him. Janelle’s reasoning is that there are five floaters and that they are stronger competition players than Chill Town.

Danielle, Erika, Marcellas and Diane throw around the idea of forming an alliance, saying if they don’t gang up, they’ll get picked off.

Janelle gathers the gang to pick players for the veto competition the night before it is to begin. Janelle draws houseguest’s choice and picks Howie. Erika picks Diane. Boogie also gets choice and naturally chooses Will. She announces that the competition will happen in the morning on one minute’s notice and must be there in that time or forfeit the chance to play for veto.

However, remember that America’s Choice? The one where you decide how often the houseguests are woken up by the creativity of the viewers? The HG’s are introduced to this and the choices of once every three hours, once every hour, once every 30 minutes, or once every 15 minutes. All the while, Will says “Not Cool”. George guesses the wake-up calls will come every 15 minutes. Gee, George, Ya think? America loves torture. It makes good reality TV.

Janelle and Howie talk. She says she doesn’t want Erika or Diane to win. Howie thought their enemies were Chill Town and says the strategy of confusion this season is working on him.

At 12:29, the house is woken up by an annoying call sent in by a viewer. Then again at 12:44 (Sure enough, 15 minutes). Marcellas goes to the balcony and says he’s considering throwing himself over it because this is driving him crazy. By 2:15, Kaysar and Janelle aren’t even bothering to be in bed. Marcellas notes during one wake-up call, “Two grown people actually took time out of their lives, out of their day, to do that.” Uh, Marcellas, people are giving up sleep to watch you guys on their live feeds. Guess you never believed you’d be trading House Calls for Wake Up Calls, eh?

Another screaming call comes at 3:00. Boogie says in DR, “Great joke, America.”

At 5:00, a robotic female voice (no, not Julie Chen), calls the players to the back yard for the veto competition. The six players all make it under the 60-second countdown. They see six chairs with heat lamps and car batteries. In front of them are two plasma monitors which will spell out, one letter at a time, words or phrases used in Big Brother, backwards. All houseguests look exhausted. The first one to get three correct, wins. Janelle then removes a cover off the table with various items including live worms, one-eye blindfolds, and headphones. For every correct answer, a houseguest can give another player one of these distractions to hinder their concentration.

First round – Boogie answers “Eviction” right and hands earphones with more of those fan wake-up calls to Howie.
Second round – Will answers “Expected”. Wrong. It’s “Expect the Unexpected” so Will is out of the game.
Third round – Howie gets “Nominee” right and dumps a basket of worms in a container at Diane’s feet.
Fourth round – Boogie gets “Power of Veto” right and puts worms by Howie’s feet.
Fifth round – Janelle gets “Alliance” right and hands the blindfold to Diane.
Sixth round – Boogie wins the veto with “Chopping Block” and yells “Mike Boogie is in the building” but in celebration, gets a nasty cut on his foot with one of the blindfold goggles lying on the floor. Will notes he wouldn’t be surprised whoever Janelle nominates in place of Boogie.

Janelle announces the news to Marcellas who asks if Will is going up. Janelle says it might be Diane. Marcellas says in DR that she chooses people who might turn on her as opposed to someone that is going to put her up.

Marcellas warns that Chill Town will go after the BB6ers. He says they’re more invested in the game than anyone else. Janelle says to Kaysar that Marcellas is really mad. James asks why goggles were put on Diane. Janelle says she was trying to hinder everyone. James says he doesn’t understand why you would go after a neutral player in a veto competition. James asks her who she didn’t want to see win and she says Will or Boogie. Howie then says “What have you been drinking, Janie, because you told me you didn’t want Erika or Diane to win it.” James says Janelle is working with Chill Town to get rid of the floaters and if Janelle doesn’t put up Will, there is going to be a mutiny among the Sovereign alliance.

Will tells Janelle that if he is put up and goes, the floaters will come after Janelle, which the other BB6ers won’t mind because they won’t be going anywhere and can relax.

Janelle is confused. Will tells her that everyone yells at her because they have selfish motivation. She still worries about this because she’s never played the game like this before. Will tells her “That’s how you win this game. I know because, I’ve won.”

Time for the first infomercial, uh, I mean luxury competition of the season. The winning team gets an advance premiere of “Talladega Nights”, the likely-lame Will Ferrell effort that premieres Friday (Though don’t take that from me, I haven’t been to a theatre since 1983). The winning team also gets snacks and if George’s team wins, he’ll get a break from the slop. That’s what will motivate him here. Mike Boogie will not compete because of his injury but will be on the first team and enjoy the luxury if they win. The team of Boogie, James, Janelle, Danielle, Diane, and Will go to the backyard and see a NASCAR vee-hickle. The task is to leave the car by climbing out the window, clean windshields, deck the car in decals, change tires, fill up the tank with that awful NASCAR gas can, climb back in the car, and wave the checkered flag in the fastest time. They get the task done in 1 minute 37 seconds. Team 2 of Erika, Kaysar, Howie, Marcellas, and George get the task done in 1:53. Team one wins. Needless to say the Richard Childress racing team won’t be calling any of these slowpokes for their Nextel Cup pit crews. George is bummed out because that was a chance to eat something nice for a change.

The HOH room is decked out with posters, candy, and a flat-screened TV. Will grabs the candy and Boogie notes that Will really is nine years old. The movie begins and Diane notes “This is Kentucky, guys.” I won’t give away the riveting scenes of the movie or the ending, just in case you want to see this crap. Will says the movie did take his mind off the game for a couple of hours.

Janelle decides to nominate Diane. James argues that he took Jase out for them last week. Janelle says she has to do what is best for her. James says he took the team into consideration last week and adds “You lied to my face. You ****** me.” In the DR, James says the Season 6 alliance is over for him.

James tells Danielle that the war begins and that if he wins HOH, he intends to backdoor Janelle.

At the veto meeting, there was no speech from Erika necessary. Boogie takes himself off. Janelle puts Diane up. Janelle says she’s doing what’s best for herself. James says the house has turned against Janelle. Will and Boogie do their pretend-phone act in the DR laughing at Janelle’s decision.

Who will be evicted. Who will win HOH. What will George’s T-shirt say? find out Thursday.
