The Show:
Once upon a time, there was a comedian named Dave Chappelle. Comedy Central gave him a show, and it drew high ratings for two seasons. So Comedy Central did what they thought was a sensible thing and gave him a $55 million dollar contract for two more seasons of “Chappelle’s Show” plus other projects. And then, during production of season three, Chappelle disappeared. Reasons for his disappearance and reappearance are numerous, but only Dave knows the real reasons. He gave an explanation on Oprah, but whether that’s the actual truth, we’ll probably never know.

What we do know is that Comedy Central decided to air the produced sketches in an abbreviated third season, co-hosted by cast members Charlie Murphy and Donnell Rawlings. I understand that some sketches have been edited, but since I haven’t actually seen these episodes prior to the DVD, I can’t make a comment either way on that.

Episodes:
3-1
We get to see what happens when people find out that Dave’s rich, Tupac is still alive, and Dave gets his revenge now that he’s rich.

3-2
Contains an apparently edited version of the “Black Pixies” sketch, which is allegedly the sketch that sent Dave down the path to Africa. Dave also portrays a black Howard Dean and shows the “real” side of Gary Coleman.

3-3
We get a skit featuring a black version of ‘The Munsters’ and Dave meeting the all-powerful Show Business, who gives Dave some advice and gets him an appearance on MTV Cribs.

The DVD:

Video:
(Presented in Fullscreen Format)
Looks like a TV show to me.

Audio:
(English Dolby Digital)
Hear people swear in Dolby Digital! Woohoo!

Special Features:
The disc contained a whole crapload of Comedy Central/VH1 promo material up front. I hate when they do that.

Unaired sketches – I’m guessing that these sketches were left over because they couldn’t make the show flow with them in there. Unlike the deleted scenes, this is some good stuff right here.

The Fabulous Making of Chappelle’s Show Season 3ish – Not really an EPK-type thing, this is more like Neal, Charlie and Donnell talking about making the show work and stuff.

Audio Commentary – Charlie Murphy, Donnell Rawlings and Neal Brennan give their thoughts on all three episodes.

Deleted Scenes and Bloopers – It is what it is. Deleted scenes are not that great, which is why they were deleted.

Musical performances – Again, it is what it is.
