Hey Daron how are you today bud?

Eh”¦

I‘m good. I think we have a nice article in front of us. Hopefully you’re in a cutting mood. I‘m going to cut the Civil War information some next week. Everyone needs a full update because we missed some. So next week I‘ll cut it up.

How about we start.

Well”¦I’ve got nothing better to do.

Les emails

Dear Jim,

I believe that the new Daredevil is Iron Fist. Why? Because he has green eyes ( like Daniel Rand, as seen in Civil War #3 ), he’s on the resistance ( along with Iron Fist’s pal, Luke Cage ) and when he fought Deadpool in the most recent issue of Cable/Deadpool, Daredevil catchs Wade with the same face smashing high knee that Iron Fist used on Deadpool. Following the knee, Deadpool stumbled back and said ” I know who you are now … ” but was cut off by the apperance of Cap’s “Secret Avengers”.

So while I’m not 100% sure, the evidence is mounting in the favor of the NEW Daredevil being Iron Fist. Other likely possiblities include Hawkeye ( who you mention last week ) and The Taskmaster ( who else could fight like Daredevil and we have no clue who he is since we’ve never seen Taskmasters face ).

We found out you are correct in the latest issue of Daredevil. Now note that don’t guarantee he’s the same guy but logically he is the same one. Matt went off to deal with other matters

I agree with your thoughts on Thor. They better have a damn good explanation about the Thunder God joining Stark. Especially since the last Avengers story with Kang ( when Kang took over the Earth ) Thor flipped out and almost went on a killing rampage when he thought Cap had been killed.

I have a weird theory on why Thor might be with Stark and SHIELD. I’m wondering if it’s the real Thor. It might just be a fake. I’m sort of hoping it is but I’m hoping there’s more to this. I want to know. I hope issue 4 explains everything.

Or he could possibly be working as a double agent”¦

My last point is that how screwed Cap’s side is. Stark has both Thor AND The Sentry on his side ( I believe. I think the Sentry’s allegince is still undefined ). Cap’s gotta pull out some big guns for his side to even have a chance in this war.

Sentry is unconfirmed. I am not going on the images from the comics. Those are proving to be wrong at times. Note also Strange has not announced his side fully yet but last time we saw him he was against this act. His power would help Cap. Also Black Bolt is against it. Now we know he won’t get involved but hell his power would help. Note Namor as well against it. His armies would help Cap.

Keep up the great work,

Thanks. We‘ll do our best.

Or Jim will die trying”¦

Drew asked

I got one….what is…Outlaw’s real hair color? And did she really need implants?

Heh. Natural blonde. Not sure about her breast. A lot of females seem to look like they have implants.

Cory emails

Cory here again”¦back again to save you all! Lol (joking). Sup fellas, Questions:

1-IMDB (Internet Movie DataBase) states that #52 in their Top 100 worst is none other than Captain America (1991); if any of you two have seen this movie”¦how bad is it? From a fan-boy p.o.v?

I’ve seen it. I can say it was still the dark era of Marvel movies. After a bad Punisher flick, this Captain America movie was a lot of campy style that comics still where trying to get away from at the time.

I mean the Red Skull was an Italian fascist? What that hell was with that?

They changed the origin around with how the super soldier came about. There also is the factor that they combined Zemo into Skull some as well. No Bucky on the rocket but Cap instead.

Bernice his wartime girlfriend as she was in the movie was a clear reference to Bernie Rosenthal his girlfriend from the 70’s/80s comics if you know Cap.

Sharon her daughter (what the hell?) likely was the reference to Sharon Carter one of Cap’s other girls.

All around they really make Cap look bad.

2- Besides my beloved Deadpool/Deathstroke crossover “Slade & Wade”, and Batman/Wolverine “Bat Claws”, What other DC/Marvel teamups/crossovers would you guys love to see materialize? Hawkeye/Green Arrow? Lol

I like your ideas of course. What I really want is that Daredevil/Batman one they talked about at a con last year. Others include:

I’d like another JLA/Avengers but only with the new rosters. The after Crisis and Civil War rosters. Not that we know an Avengers roster yet.

Maybe a Titans/Young Avengers book.

Spidey/Nightwing”¦that’d be an interesting matchup.

3- In our lifetime, do you ever think that there will be an inter-company crossover movie? (Though I’m not holding my breath)

Doubt that will happen. People would get to mixed up. Thinking of the non-comic fans here mostly though. I doubt we’ll see a cross company movie.

Yeah right, we can’t even get a single company crossover movie. I’d love to see a Superman/Batman movie or a Spidey/DD movie. But since I don’t even see these happening, I really don’t see an inter-company crossover.

4- Oh my (Norse) God, Tho’s back”¦.with a vengeance. But isn’t he on the wrong side or is this Marvel form of shock value? Or are they setting up for a Thor/Hercules battle, like the inevitable IM/Capt. A battle?

Thor being with Shell head isn’t the last shocker. Marvel plans quite a few of them. After all there’s supposed to be shock endings for each issue.

Issue 1: Iron Man promising to go after Cap with Reed and Hank
Issue 2: Spider-Man unmask
Issue 3: Thor joins the fight on Stark’s side.
Issue 4: Someone dies I’ve heard.

So expect more. This is a big story and isn’t over yet. Oh I’m betting on more Stark vs. Cap and maybe a Thor vs. Herc fight. Even maybe Ares showing up to help Cap.

5- In a fight between both gods, who wins? Or have this already happened before?

Well seeing as Herc isn’t a god but a half god and Thor actually has powers I take Thor in the fight. I do know they have fought before. I think quite a few times even. I’ll have to see who won those matches again in back issues

6-Though DC owns the greatest comic book character movie of All-Time (Batman Begins), it looks like Marvel is kicking their butt on the movie side with 3 movies next year (FF2, Ghost Rider, & Spider-Man 3) and more following in ’08 (Wolverine, Iron Man, Hulk 2, Punisher 2, Capt. America, etc.) Is there any reason for the lack of DC movie franchises, because it looks like Bat & Supes are the only “marketable ones”, to not only get a revamp, but to get green lit on screen, any idea why?

Recall that back in the day DC ruled the day with the movies. Also the Comic movies have just boomed of late ever since Blade and Spider-Man I. Those movies helped cause more franchises to be brought in. Also with Avi Arad helping push Marvel movies they got the head start. Now DC is catching back up. They had to get over the last few bad Batmovies and bad Superman flicks. Those two come first and then Wonder Woman. She’s next. Expect more DC characters soon.

Well the main reason DC is behind is because of the time frames. Marvel started back in the movie business in 1998 with Blade, but DC only started again last year. As Jim said, Wonder Woman is on the way, and I’m sure they’ll have more on the way as long as viewers keep supporting comic movies.

7- Rumor has it that they allegedly have the actor for Tony Starks & the Mandarin as his villain, the Abomination in Hulk 2 with more action than plot devices, Punisher 2 with Jigsaw & WAY more violence, SS in FF2, Venom, finally in Spider-Man 3, what else could a Marvel fan ask for? Anything from your p.o.v’s?

I like the way the movies are going with Marvel. The idea they are coming up with for the new franchises and of course sequels. I really like how they are using the right villains to help the franchises. I expect the trend to continue. Cap will have Red Skull I hope. Wolverine has Sabretooth. You know the deal. All around it‘s a good move.

8- About Capt. America: 1-Though he is the best with his shield (throwing & shielding), has he ever been shot? 2- or been pushed to the limit & branished a firearm to a villain (similar to Batman to Deathstroke in Infinite Crisis)? : Speaking of Batman, the guy has got to hold the record for the most off-panel fight wins that ANYONE ever in comics history, am I right? (Deathstroke, Batroc, Taskmaster):

Cap has used a gun. It’s been shown before. He regretted using it afterwards. He regretted numerous foes deaths in the past. He never really liked to kill but it comes with the job at times. It can’t be helped. I can take you back to the 80s and an old Cap issue with that standpoint with Cap 326. A very interesting issue.

As for most off panel fight wins I agree Bats has the record. He’s been around the longest and had the most comics

9- Other than Luke Cage, can you name some of the other inter-racial romances in Marvel? Btw, why not some of the inter-species ones as well?

Sure I can list quite a few. But I’ll do a top ten

1. Crystal/Quicksilver (Inhuman/Mutant)
2. Scarlet Witch/Vision (Mutant/android)
3. Silver Surfer/Alicia Masters (alien/human)
4. Namor/Sue Richards (Atlantian/human)
5. Storm/Black Panther (mutant/human)
6. Professor X/Lilandra (mutant/alien)
7. Corsair/Hepzibah (human/alien)
8. Captain Marvel/Ms Marvel (alien/human)
9. Storm/Forge (black/Indian)
10. Heather Hudson/Wolverine (human/mutant)

10- Do anyone of you guys think that the marriage between the Black Panther & Storm will last? What other Marvel marriages were there & which have lasted? Though I know Reed & Sue’s is the most major one.

I think this one will last. As for lasting a long time:
1. Sue/Reed
2. Pete/MJ
3. Black Bolt/Medusa
4. Crystal/Quicksilver
5. Vindicator/Heather Hudson

Aren’t Crystal and Quicksilver separated…if not divorced?

11- TOP 10 VILLAINS: 1- Dr. Doom, 2 -Magneto, 3- Mr. Sinister, 4-Red Skull, 5-Ultron, 6- Apocalypse, 7-Carnage, 8- Sabretooth, 9- Mandarin, and 10 –Kang/Kingpin.

Nice list. Mine is coming up shortly

12- I think it was Daron who said “Personally, I think they’ve completely ruined the character of Wolverine by giving him his memory and a rather retarded “origin”. I hate the memory thing if it lasts, though I think I won’t. But I love his origin from “Origin”, especially if Sabretooth is his “half brother”, any rebuttals?

I don’t have any complaints about the Wolverine thing. So Daron can let his opinion be known better.

I’m not exactly sure how they can take back his memory, especially since the readers are learning about it as well. Part of his intrigue as a character was his lack of history and memory, I feel that is now lost to him. And as for his “origin.” Well to be honest, I thought it was pretty uninteresting, and rather lackluster considering who we’re talking about. And as Jeff has pointed out to me many times”¦how disappointing is it that Wolverine’s real name is”¦Jim? I just found the whole thing to be, as I said, rather disappointing.

13- Speaking of Maggott last week, what about the other lost “X-Men” in Dr. Cecilia Reyes & Marrow? (I think they tried too hard to make Marrow a badass, and never really gave Reyes a chance).

Marrow went on to become a little something for a time. After all she went on to Weapon X.

Cece never really got used too much after her short stint with the X-Men she retired to go back to her job.

14- So how’s that Venture Bros. DVD? Lol

I’m enjoying it. I’ve only seen the first 5 episodes now but I’m laughing at them and enjoying them. I’m seeing some of the influences of a few genres. Can’t wait to see them all.

15- New Excalibur, any of you guys like the new roster? I ‘ve always been a closet Captain Britain fan. I always thought that he was underrated & underused as well.

I am reading it. I do like the roster as well. It’s missing something though. I don’t know who or what but I is missing someone. I have no complaints though. They are using the right underused characters.

I can’t say I’ve read any of it, and honestly won’t as long as Mr. Claremont still has anything to do with the book. I thought the cast was interesting, but I honestly can’t justify spending any more money or my even more valuable free time on Claremont’s ramblings.

Don’t get me wrong, in his day Claremont was most definitely the man, unfortunately I feel his day has passed.

16- As for Grifter=Bishop. I always thought Grifter=Gambit. Anyone notice the ladies man bravado & the trench coats?

That might make sense. I’m not positive on it since I’ve only read like 3 issues of the comic and watched the old cartoon a few times. But you could be right

Um”¦no he’s definitely not Gambit. He’s really a mix between Bishop and Wolverine. But I don’t see any Gambit in him at all.

17- What are your opinions on Topher Grace as Eddie Brock/Venom & Heath Ledger (of Brokeback Mountain fame) as the new Joker? (It’s taking Sam Raimi an awful lengthy time to direct Spider-Man. I think that at the end of 3, Venom will be created & it will play into pt.4 with him as a main villain. I think they have tricks of stalling the shooting time to kind of do both films similar to how The Matrix 2 & 3 were done.

I agree on your feelings on the end of Spider-Man 3. Venom will be introduced towards the end and then the main villain in Spidey 4. Best way to do it. As for Topher. I think he‘s going to need to bulk up or something for Spidey 4. Brock become stronger after gaining the symbiote after all

Who said anything about there being a Spidey 4? Was it announced? All I’ve heard is that the franchise was ending with #3 (at least with the current cast). Either way, I don’t really see them making a “to be continued” ending”¦

Btw, X-3 on DVD, Oct. 3rd. Ultimate Avengers on 8-8-6. Same time next week fellas, See ya in 7. Cory, Out!

I can’t wait. I’m getting Ultimate Avengers 2 next week and X-3 when it’s out. See you next week Cory.

The more I think about it, the more I disliked X3″¦I may not even get the last DVD. It may go (like my Blade collection) unended, with only the first 2 movies”¦a very unfortunate end to such a promising franchise.

Issues and synopsis so far:

Amazing Spider-Man #529-531: After receiving a new costume from Tony Stark he goes to Washington with the man to speak to Congress about a Superhuman Registration act. Tony Stark as Iron Man pays Titanium Man to combat Spider-Man. Spidey agrees to stick with Tony no matter what.

Fantastic Four #536-537: Thor’s hammer returned to Earth crashing into Oklahoma and then put under U.S. Army protection. Six months later Doctor Doom, who had escaped from Hell during the hammers return, tried to claim the hammer for himself but was unable to lift it. After this, a man wearing a backpack with the initials “D.B.” is seen boarding a bus for Oklahoma.

New Avengers: The Illuminati: Iron Man was handed a copy of the Super-human Registration Act. He told the rest of the group about it. Reed Richards went along with Iron Man, but Namor, Dr. Strange and Black Bolt all disagreed and left. With most of the members gone, it implied that the team was over, with Mr. Fantastic telling Iron Man that it “was fun while it lasted” before leaving.

Civil War # 1: The New Warriors, filming a reality television show, and a cadre of villains in Stamford, Connecticut. The battle goes wrong for the heroes, resulting in villain Nitro creating an explosion that takes out a local school, the surrounding neighborhood, and all but one of the Warriors. This event catalyzes a government movement to register all super-powered beings as living weapons of mass destruction. The event has also turned the public opinion against the superheroes as many of them are blamed for the incident. Due to this, many superheroes Johnny Storm has been attacked by the public. Meanwhile, S.H.I.E.L.D. tries to recruit Captain America to become part of the team that will force superheroes to register. Captain America refuses and after being attacked by S.H.I.E.L.D., goes underground. Iron Man, Yellowjacket and Mister Fantastic will deal with Cap somehow.

Wolverine # 42: Wolverine learns of the events of Stamford, Connecticut and goes to help out. He also wants to personally deal with the true villain behind it Nitro. He also seems against the act.

She-Hulk # 8: She-Hulk is split. Jennifer is against the act while She-Hulk seems for it as she defends the remaining New Warriors. This brings back quite a few old New Warriors and explains who’s side they are on. John Jameson also talks to Captain America who’s gone underground

Amazing Spider-Man #532: We see the events through Spider-Man’s eyes here in this story and of course Peter talks to his family about the ramifications of outing himself or joining Tony. In the end he is wearing his original costume about to speak to the public.

Civil War: Front Line# 1: Iron Man shows his support for the Superhuman Registration Act by revealing his identity as Tony Stark in a press conference. Speedball is revealed to be alive after the Stamford Disaster, his kinetic powers having knocked him 500 miles away. He is promptly arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D., and is powerless as a result of the strain. Spider-Man meets with Sally Floyd making the proposal for her to investigate the Pro-Registration faction on Iron Man’s behalf.

Civil War # 2: We start seeing sides formed. As Iron Man leads a group of heroes against a super villain. Elsewhere we learn Captain America is underground and he’s building an army of his own. The Young Avengers get involved by fighting crime without registering. They are about to be taken captive till Captain America and Falcon save their butts. Reed and Sue seem more at odds as we see the biggest event in Marvel history so far. A Times Square press conference Spider-Man tells the world that “My name is Peter Parker and I’ve been Spider-Man since I was 15 years old. Any questions?”

Thunderbolts # 104: The Thunderbolts battle Quicksand as the press conference in Civil War # 2 takes place. We see their reaction. Baron Zemo and a few others are invited to meet with Iron Man and his crew. The Thunderbolts are asked to recruit villains to help capture the heroes who do not register. Zemo accepts and we find out Zemo has already been building quite an army of villains already.

Civil War Frontline # 2: Peter Parker is asked about his relationship to Norman Osborn, AKA The Green Goblin. Parker responds that Osborn deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison for what he did to Gwen Stacy. When shown a tape of the conference by S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives, Osborn becomes enraged. Spider-Man’s secret identity results in a media frenzy as Daily Bugle is swarmed by press. Sally Floyd meets with Firestar in a bar. Firestar explains her fears regarding the registration act’s effect on her life as a college student and any career outside of being a superhero. Claiming she can no longer afford to be Firestar, she quits, dropping her mask in the street. A protesting Prodigy is confronted by Iron Man. The ensuing battle takes place in full view of awed crowds and ends with a mass of black helicopters carrying the unconscious Prodigy. Speedball is beaten and transferred to maximum security prison.

Amazing Spider-Man # 533: “My name is Peter Parker and I’ve been Spider-Man since I was 15 years old.”, thus exposing himself to the attention of the main public, ranging from extreme enthusiasm to anger, and straining his relationship with J.J. Jameson, who felt betrayed by Peter. Currently, Tony Stark has forcibly drafted Spider-Man in a task-force to hunt the rebel heroes and bring them to justice – severely upsetting Peter as he felt blindsided by such a decision, perhaps most agitated about the possibility of having to confront Captain America.

Fantastic Four # 538: The Thing, Mr. Fantastic, and Invisible Woman are told by a doctor about Johnny’s condition. He is in a coma and should not be surrounded by negative energy until he wakes up. Sue and Reed argue about the registration act then go their seperate ways as Ben takes the first shift of watch. Yancy Street, Superheroes duke it out and civilians are protesting against the act. Ms. Marvel battles Silverclaw and Ben arrives and continues walking past after Ms. Marvel asks for his help. Ben talks to the people of Yancy Street and says that he’s not sure which side he is on. Puppet Master and The Thinker conspire to take out the heroes that are being carted off to prison before peace can be negotiated. DB picks up Thor’s hammer.
