Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat – (Episode 9)

Cue the music..cue the entrances..cue the video game effects with each team being shown together as it gets loaded onto your TV or computer screen. The “alumni” are dressed in black, while the “fresh meat” are dressed in red. Oh..and it’s TJ Lavin as the host playing this “video game”…

Linette and Aviv sit down with Diem and explain that they are not really mad at her for putting Linette into exile. They know it was all Derrick. They were just upset that Diem didn’t come to them and tell them that they were going to do that. Derrick says it was a smart and strategic move on his part to put Shane and Linette into exile, so deal with it.

The teams get a clue! “You’re just a hop, skip, and a jump away from your next challenge!” Wes thinks they may be acting like kangaroos. Casey informs us that they will win the pardon in this next challenge and they will send in Darrell and Aviv in their place. So it’s looking like some exile team will finally be winning a pardon. I mean..they talk about it so much. It has to happen..right? That’s what this show is all about. Anyways Shane says that he knows Linette feels betrayed by Diem. She just needs to worry about winning the next challenge and prove to be a strong player, though.

Theo talks to Linette and he is so glad that he met her here. Linette doesn’t want to get emotionally attached to him, but Theo is not making it easy for her.

TJ now explains the rules of this challenge to the teams. It is called the “Jump Down Under”! The teams will be jumping off of a 12 meter platform, which is about four stories high. Casey is not confident in this challenge. No safety net as you jump into water and such. After they jump in the water, they have to swim 20 feet to this “Rave SuperLaunch” thing. You climb up this giant floating raft and get your team flag on top. They then have to jump off of that and swim another 20 feet to the finish line. Fastest team wins the challenge and they get a pair of Oakley sunglasses with a MP3 player built-in!

Derrick and Diem decide on the order for the teams. Aviv hopes that they don’t send Shane and Linette first, since Linette said she wouldn’t. This is her second chance to step up. So you know what that means..they pick Shane and Linette to go first! Linette is extremely disappointed in Diem. She is just going to use all of that anger in this challenge, though, Time for our first break!

Commercial time!

Shane and Linette are ready to go and they jump into the water. They seem to be going okay until they try to get up onto the raft thing. It is very unstable on top. You have to slowly go towards the flag or risk getting thrown off. Linette said it was a disadvantage to go first in this challenge, but they did it and she is proud of them.

Wes and Casey are next. Casey doesn’t want to jump. She’s scared. Wes says she may have to push her off. Casey tells him not to do that. Casey knows she can do it, but she’s scared. Casey says she is not doing it, though, and they are eliminated because of it. Casey says no sane person says they are going to jump from four stories.

Theo and Chanda are up. And Theo has jumped from higher places than this. They jump off and Chanda says it stings when you hit the water, since it’s high up. They seem to work pretty well as a team and it seems like a fast time.

Darrell and Aviv are next. Darrell says he can’t turn back around. He doesn’t want to jump, but he does. He holds his nose on the way down and screams out, which is pretty funny. Darrell compares crawling on top of this raft thing to trying to sneak girls into your parent’s house late at night. You have to be quiet and smooth at the same time without making a wrong move. They seem to go fast as well.

Tina and Kenny are up. They speed right along and Wes comments that they have been doing better since being sent into exile. Kenny thinks they are in first. They said they got better after that exile. They are more confident now.

Derrick and Diem are the last to go. Diem says she is just trying to be a strong competitor now and remember that’s just a game. They think they have a fast time as well.

TJ now comes in to tell us the results of this challenge:

#6 – Wes and Casey – DQ
#5 – Shane and Linette – 8:30
#4 – Theo and Chanda – 7:20
#3 – Darrell and Aviv – 4:24
#2 – Tina and Kenny – 3:24

#1 and WINNERS AGAIN – Derrick and Diem – 3:15

Tina flips them off and Kenny says they only beat them by a few seconds. But they can’t complain too much, since this is the best they have done so far. Wes and Casey and Shane and Linette say their goodbyes. Casey is confident that she is coming back, since she and Wes are “Team Exile”. Linette wants to come back to see Theo some more. She also wants to send Casey home, since she can’t compete. Diem says that if Shane and Linette come back..she and Derrick are screwed! Time for our last break!

Commercial time!

TJ now explains the rules of exile again to Wes and Casey and Shane and Linette. Teams have to carry the weight of the bags they brought with them, grab the team flag, puzzles, start, middle, and end, etc.

They all get into the van with their blindfolds on and jump out to start this thing. Wes and Casey carry 113 lbs., while Shane and Linette carry 171 lbs.! Doesn’t look good for Shane and Linette from the start with those bags. Except Casey is not doing so well as well. She is not as confident as usual. Shane and Linette make it to the first reward puzzle. Shane says he can’t think, so they grab the flag and keep going. Smart move. Shane carries a bunch of bags. Linette doesn’t see how he can do it. Casey is still slow. Finally, Wes grabs all the bags and lets Casey take the flag. That works as Wes and Casey pass Linette.

The teams make it to the second reward puzzle. Linette is lagging behind. Shane goes back to get the bag and Linette. Linette says she will never look at her luggage the same way again. Wes tries to solve the puzzle, but it’s wrong. Wes and Casey are leading and Shane and Linette can’t get it right either. Now it’s a race to the finish. We don’t see it, though.

The van pulls up and out comes Wes and Casey again! No one can believe it! We see the finish now. TJ says this was the toughest exile yet. Wes and Casey come ahead of Shane and Linette by a few minutes. Linette says that neither Wes or Casey have the heart to stay in this game. Casey says she just killed Linette in this exile, so it proves she wants to stay. HAHAHA! That’s funny. Don’t act all cocky, when you really know that Wes carried you on his back. Period! Shane is sad that he has to leave and not get a piece of Derrick and Diem again. Linette is sad that she didn’t get to really say goodbye to Theo and Aviv.

Now we go back to the house to see Casey talking about how Linette said she had no heart. She says she could put her two brothers through college with that money. Aviv comes to tell Theo that Wes and Casey won. Theo says he will miss Linette. But they are not done yet. He will see her in America.

Now it’s time to dance! Casey says that she and Wes are confident as a team now. Casey gets more confident every time they kick another team off. That’s five now! Diem, of course, is happy that Linette is gone. Aviv is still here, though. She doesn’t like Diem, but she is friendly with her, since it’s not good to have enemies in this game. Derrick says that he and Diem are the top team now! They have all the power!

And we are out until next week!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
