Chrome Division – Doomsday Rock 'n Roll Review

Website: Chrome Division

The Inside Pulse:
Take past and present members of Dimmu Borgir, add a smidge of Ashes to Ashes, and somehow you end up with… Motorhead? Strangely enough, yes. Chrome Division turns Norway on its ear, gathering members of a pile of bands and churns out the unexpected with Doomsday Rock ‘n Roll. It’s time the land of snow and darkness enjoys a healthy dose of biker metal.

Positives: Oh, FUN. Is there nothing better than a totally out-of-character eruption that actually turns out well? The structures are simplistic, but catchy as hell; “Serial Killer” will stick with you long after the first few listens. That doesn’t mean the disc is without its surprises, as the self-titled “Chrome Division” showcases some breaks that definitely recall the bands from whence the members came.

Negatives: There’s absolutely no new ground covered here and the lyrics are beyond cliche. But they do the style so well, those details are merely a footnote for the snobby elite.

Cross-breed: It’s Motorhead for the 21st century. If Lemmy’s listening to this, it’s likely brought a tear to his eye.

Reason To Buy: Fans of Black Label Society, take note. Doomsday Rock ‘n Roll will be a perfect compliment to your record collection.
