Sinkin' Ships – All Signs Are Wrong Review

Sinkin’ Ships Myspace

The Inside Pulse:
Based out of Toronto, the Sinkin’ Ships bring us All Signs Are Wrong. Lumping themselves into the Toronto punk scene, let’s see if this album will sink or swin.

Positives:
Sounds like your typical underground recorded album, which isn’t a bad thing and I believe that is what they were going for. Musically, they present themselves with a nostalgic feeling, as though this album could have been recorded in the early 90’s.

Negatives:
While the music is good, the vocals leave a bit to be desired. With some more time, I’m sure that Naomi Allen will have no trouble developing into a more well-rounded vocalist. As of right now, she seems to have the “angry punk” vocals down.

Cross-breed:
Offspring’s Smash with Hole’s Celebrity Skin thrown in.

Reason to buy:
Female vocals in punk bands are very hard to get into. If you’re a fan of Hole or even The Distillers, give this album a listen to.
