– Shawn Michaels recently signed a new five-year contract with an annual downsize guarantee of $1.5 million. Given his age and condition, many were surprised at the size of the offer, including Michaels himself. Then he remembered his best mate was a McMahon and he crank-called Marty Jannetty once he had stopped laughing.
– Lita’s contract is believed to expire in November. She still has no plans of staying.
– Trish Stratus will leave after the Unforgiven PPV on the 17th September, which is in her hometown of Toronto.
– Unforgiven will be headlined by Cena vs. Edge for the WWE Spinning Belt in a TLC match. The storyline is that after SummerSlam was held in Cena’s hometown of Boston, Edge tries to counter by challenging in his own hometown in his ‘speciality’ match, which probably tells you all you need to know about the finish for SummerSlam (but remember they change their minds about the title a lot these days). Cena is still expected to feud with Umaga in the near future. As for Edge, well, there must be some reason why Jeff Hardy was added to the Raw roster…
– There was another major drug test on the 7th August Raw show in Memphis, which is said to have caused a panic. They brought back Jeff Hardy for crying out loud, calm down!
– Raw will be pre-taped on the 16th October, with a joint taping with Smackdown being held the night before at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
– John Cena will miss house show dates on the 18th and 19th October to promote his movie, The Marine.
