[TNA] Mexico Plans

Archive

– TNA is finalising deals for a show at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, the premier state-of-the-art venue in the country, on the 25th November. WWE has done three shows there in the past, drawing crowds of 14,000, 7,500 and 12,000, but they never sold it out. WWE signing Jeff Hardy may harm TNA here, as he was one of the stars the promoters asked for specifically. They will likely rely heavily on Konnan, plus Jeff Jarrett and perhaps Ron Killings, who both got over during their recent AAA appearances. However, TNA itself has no TV in Mexico and cannot play off its name the way CMLL can. Still, if all goes well, it may open the door to several more dates in Central and South America.

– Matt Morgan is after a TNA deal and has been highly recommended by Jim Cornette. However, the company wants to hold off on adding new faces to their large roster until they get extra airtime on Spike TV.

– Jake Roberts has also been sniffing for a deal, though obviously there are many reasons why people are pushing the company away from signing him. Again, it all depends on whether Spike TV sees fit to inject their schedules with more TNA.

– There have been serious discussions about bringing in an MMA star to work with Samoa Joe. The problem is trying to find someone within their budget that could be a ratings draw and would not want to go over. That, and the recent Sylvester Terkay gimmick on Smackdown, have effectively laid the idea to rest.
