Rock Star: Supernova – Recap – Episode 2-14

Results show time. Brooke Burke… the “band”… Dave Navarro.

Reality Segment – Missed parts of this, but Storm basically has no problem with her performance, and no problem with the criticism.

Back in the theatre Dave tells Storm that he felt that he could be honest because of all the contestants he thought she could take some harsh criticism.

Jason now tells us that usually it would be time for the encore, but the “band” has felt that it’d be a good idea to debut some songs and the singers are learning a new song every week, and every results show one of them will be singing WITH Supernova backing them.

So we cut back to the reality stuff as the eight singers are in the studio and auditioning their versions of the song (which I forgot to write down the name of) to the “band”. And the winner this week is Dilana. Yeah, I’m shocked too. The song? It’s kinda generic. But the “band” liked the chemistry that Dilana brought, and Tommy liked the dancing girls.

Now, we get to the encore, but because Dilana – who if you remember Dave said was best performer on Tuesday – already performed, we get Ryan Star by default singing Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” again. I’m still not really that impressed by it.

Now it’s bottom three time. The bottom three after the first few minutes of voting were: Zayra (of course), Patrice (of course) and Toby (guess viewers didn’t like his butt that much). But a few more rockers hit the bottom three over the voting period – Magni and Storm (who jumps up with an enthusiastic “YES!” Is there any question that she wants this?)

The first member of the bottom three is Zayra Alvarez. Bye Zayra, it’s been fun knowing you. The song she chooses to go out on is “Razorblade” by Blue October, and suffice to say it’s kinda weird. Kinda like Cake, but not really.

The second member of the bottom three is Patrice Pike, and she’s gonna sing Hole’s “Celebrity Skin”. I don’t think that she sings it well, but she sells the song, interacting with everyone and finishing up in the “band’s” booth. She’s most likely safe for another week.

The final member of the bottom three is… Magni? Hmm, they must not have liked him partying the week after seeing his kid. Anyways, he’s singing “Creep” by Radiohead, and damn if he doesn’t sing it damn well. Nice touch when he goes over to Patrice and Zayra while singing the “I don’t belong here” line. Overall, it’s just a great performance, and had he sang this last Tuesday instead of Lucas… well, he’d have gotten the first encore.

So long story short, Magni’s safe, Patrice has potential, and Zayra gets the axe. And nobody, even Zayra, is shocked about it.
