Time for another results show.
The judges were introduced by Sue Brophy and then Ben Mulroney came out to make his
first appearance of the evening. Ben asked if anybody liked his “limited edition, Puma
Pele shoes.”
The top six then came out and then Ben introduced Chantal Kreviazuk. She sat at a piano
set-up at center stage and the Idols surrounded her. She also started warming up minutes
before the show started and asked to hear more piano in her earpiece.
The show started and Ben introduced the first group performance of the evening. He said
that the top six Idols would be singing “In This Life” with Chantal.
To me, the definition of entertainment is watching Jake Gold rock out to Chantal
Kreviazuk. Craig bobbing his head to the beat was also quite humorous.
After the impromptu concert, Ben said that there were 3 million votes cast on Monday
and that this would be the midway point of the Top 10 as the initial set of contestants
would be reduced to five after tonight.
Mulroney then introduced a recap of the previous night’s performance.
Commercial.
After the break, Chantal performed again. She embraced Ben after the song and said that
he looked “fabulous.” She also said that her new album was recorded in her bedroom
and that it comes out on August 29. Mulroney asked her again about the acoustic Idol
performances and she used the same line that she did the night before when she said that
singing acoustic is like singing naked.
Commercial.
Time for the results. During the commercial break, some drums were set-up on stage and
I thought that these signaled Steffi D’s demise as it might be in preparation for her
singing The Cardigans again.
Ben started going through the results.
CRAIG: BOTTOM 3
EVA: SAFE
TYLER: SAFE
STEFFI: BOTTOM 3
CHAD: SAFE
ASHLEY: BOTTOM 3
Wow. Somebody big was going home. Ben asked the judges for their comments.
Jake: I don’t think Craig emoted as well as he could have.
Sass: They will get a lot of great tips (from Martina McBride next
week).
Farley: Go out there and do your thing.
Zack: Go down in a ball of flames. Go down big and proud!
Ben says that Steffi is safe.
This is truly a shocking turn of events. Another one of my predicted final four would be
going home. Logic would dictate that it was definitely going to be Ashley (given the fact
that she has been in the bottom so many times before) and Ashley leaving before country
week would suck.
Commercial.
Craig is safe.
Ashley is going home.
I always compared Ashley to Suzi Rawn (who I LOVED!) and Ashley finished just one
week shy of Suzi’s fifth place last year.
Ashley thanks the voters and I put on my cowboy hat.
Idol goes country next week!
