Looking Ahead – 22nd August 2006

Hello there my fine, fine readers (all 12 of you). I’m sat here typing this on my BRAND SPANKING NEW Computer, straight from the fiery depths of Dell. I’ve had it a week and so far, touch wood, there’s nothing wrong with it. Which is good, because I heard Dell had a bit of a reputation for being crap. But hey hoe, so far so good.

Sorry I missed last week, but I took my brother to the airport (he’s on a work placement for a year in America) at 4am, got back home at 8am, fell asleep for 2 hours, went to work from 11am until 11pm. So I was pretty knackered.

Other than that, there’s not much else to talk about from the “Life of Dan”.

Well.. apart from WINNING THE SUMMERSLAM ROUNDTABLE !

6-1 baby yeah! That’s what you get from writing a column every week on booking and predictions.

Time for some links.

Have A Gander…

Tommy P’s Live Raw Coverage. Great recap if you missed Raw.

Same with Neeley. Another fine Raw Recap.

Ken Anderson breaks down about SummerSlam.

Gloomie plugs me, I return the favour.

Dan Hevia reviews Basic Instinct 2, and pretty much nails it bang on the head in regards to the score.

Tim Stevens talks comics and also reviews them. Nice work if you can get it, eh? If only they let me review Playboy.

Josh Clinton with The Weekly Pulse: TV’s Second Wife.

Carla Lee reviews a book called “Flashover”. Sounds pretty decent.

And where would I be without the usual self-plug for You Complete Bar Steward!

RAW

Next PPV – Unforgiven; 17/09/06

The Announced Card

Nothing Officially Announced.

Speculation…

John Cena vs. Edge – TLC for the WWE Championship

Rumours are knocking around that we’ll get another Edge vs. John Cena match at Unforgiven in a TLC match. That sounds pretty damn awesome to me. Both guys have been on fire recently, especially Cena, so as long as they bring the intensity and the willingness to fight, then we’ll get a great match.

De-Generation X vs. The McMahons

I read on PWInsider or wherever that they’re planning to carry on this feud another month or so, and from what I saw last night on Raw it looks like those rumours were true. To be honest with you, I didn’t think they could pull it off, but with DX seemingly pissing off Vince to the up most degree last night, it might just stretch out for another month and a bit. That gives the bookers enough time to put Umaga over Kane, getting him ready for a high-profile feud with either Triple H or Shawn Michaels, which I think is the way to go if they’re serious about pushing Umaga.

Carlito vs. Randy Orton

It’s obvious they’re going into a program with these two, just by looking at what happened on Raw last night. It’s going to be a nice test run for Carlito to see if he can hang with “the big boys”, and I’m looking forward to the matches too. It’s fresh, which is always good.

Umaga vs. Kane

Another obvious choice for a feud, and one that can benefit Umaga greatly. Let’s face it, he hasn’t exactly set the world on fire with his matches, yet he’s getting slightly more over as the weeks and months pass by. Winning a feud against Kane would be a big step in the right direction, and would help cement Umaga even further up the card in the fans eyes.

Trish Stratus vs. Lita – Women’s Championship

Trish beat Victoria on Raw, so I’m going to assume she’s going to get a shot at the Women’s title sooner or later, so why not wait until Unforgiven to have that match? Putting the title on Lita is a nice way of saying thanks before she bows out after her contract expires, so I’ve got no problem with that.

Johnny Nitro vs. ? – Intercontinental Championship

Surely the IC title will get a spot on the card? I hope it does, as it’s the title I appreciated the most, back in the day when it was worth something. Currently it’s nothing more than a piece of shit smeared around the waist of whoever is holding it, but get the belt onto somebody who’s ACTUALLY HAVING A FUCKING FEUD and I’ll start to care again.

The Highlanders vs. The Spirit Squad – Tag Team Championship

I don’t dislike the Highlanders as much as most other people seem to, but yeah… they need… something to get them more over than they already are. Teaming up with BodgeJob and HackSaw isn’t the way to do it either. More comedy spots maybe. Or a chat show. Hell… get Piper back to manage them for a couple of months. ANYTHING other than teaming up with Team Special Bus.

SMACKDOWN

Next PPV – No Mercy; 08/10/06

The Announced Card

Nothing Officially Announced

Speculation…

King Booker vs. Batista – World Championship

This seems really rushed, but give it a couple of months to flesh out and we’ll get a decent PPV outing from the two. Batista still won’t win though, as Booker will scrape a victory again. Look for this to be come kind of gimmick match, possibly a No DQ match, followed by a Cage match at Survivor Series.

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero

I liked the match they had at SummerSlam, but I honestly think it’s marred by the fact that a) Vicki Guerrero was involved, and b) that they’re still using Eddie Guerrero’s name to get people over.

I’d be all gung-ho for this if they mentioned Eddie once, then left him alone and wrote their own history to fall back on at a later date, but nooooo…. It’s the WWE stupid. Man, I’m feeling really anti-WWE today.

United States Championship Match

Ok, so the US title will more-than-likely be defended, but who against? Finlay is doing an awesome job as champ, so maybe another triple threat match between himself, Lashley and Regal would be a nice way to go, possibly shifting the title over to Regal in the process, which will again freshen up the angle whilst Lashley continues to learn his craft. Maybe throwing Kennedy into the mix would be a good idea too.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship

I really, really want Helms back to being pushed like he was before he broke his nose, but he needs to lose the faggy bandana first. Bandanas = Wank.

WWE Tag Team Titles

So yeah… that new team might as well get a title shot, because there’s nothing else for them to do really, if you think about it.

The Last Bit…

Along with the new computer, I bought the “Straight Shootin’ with Samoa Joe & CM Punk” DVD and it’s fricking awesome. They’re both so natural storytellers that I could seriously just sit there and listen to both guys talk on and on for the whole day. It’s seriously that good, and it leaves you wanting a whole lot more. So go buy it, and give Joe some money for Tacos and Punk some money for Mineral Water.

Stay hungry…
