Treasure Hunters – Recap – Episode 10 (Finale)

Archive

Previously on Treasure Hunters, teams got eliminated. The Hunt concludes… now.

Opening Credits

Baltimore, MD. We are still in the Key Industries building. Geniuses are still trying to figure out the cryptex, while Southie Boys and Air Force are still looking for the entrance. Eventually though, the Southie Boys and then the Air Force find the hidden staircase and the hidden chamber. Southie Boys, though, can’t figure out how to get into the chamber, but Brooke uses the star token to open up the door. Now it’s a race to see who can figure out the five-letter code to open the cryptex.

…or maybe not, as the teams are struggling to figure out the code, and they appear to be in there for hours. One of the Air Force Matts does make note that there is only one star symbol on the walls, and perhaps it could be significant.

Eventually, Francis asks Charles for the cryptex. He fiddles around, and it pops open! Apparently he was mulling around thinking that the key was Francis Scott Key, and tried FSKEY. The Cryptex reveals a pointer, which they place on the structure on the ground and spin it. And the pointer points to… the star! The Geniuses pound on the star and it opens up a secret chamber… with the gold!

Laird Mcintosh calls the Southie Boys and Air Force and congratulates them on getting this far, but they, you know, didn’t win. But Martin waxes philosophical, saying that there was no way the Southie Boys would’ve cracked that code regardless.

…and this is where we cut to what I would call the worst live reunion show ever. Laird apparently has no control over the teams, and is about as robotic live as he is during the video messages. The questions are strictly softball, and 10 minutes of the “reunion” are wasted showing us the blatant product placement race for $100,000.

Basically, if you think I’m recapping the reunion part, think again. I will tell you that three important things came out of it: one of the Young Professionals no-showed, Air Force Brooke is preggers, and the Geniuses won $3,000,000.
