Big Brother – Recap – Sept. 5

Archive

Just a week to go before the winner is crowned.
Previously, Boogie wins HOH, we see a showmance, ho-mance, bro-mance, flirtmance, a little bit of strategy talk, and Janelle and Erika nominated.

It’s a live show, so Julie welcomes us to Day 65 in the house. 37 seconds into the show, we hear “but first.”

It’s off to the jury house where there were not one, but two hurricanes. The first was John, which forced them to evacuate into a second jury house. They arrive in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where Marcellas says now there’s just a Hurricane Howie. Sure enough, Howie’s in the pool, yapping at Marcellas. They get into a shouting match, bad-mouthing eachother. Howie calls Marcellas “The worst houseguest in Big Brother history.” James watches on. (For the record the worst HG is BB history was Josh from season 3).

They line up to see the arrival of Danielle who says “I got scumbagged.” She was also surprised by the shocked look on their faces. They line up again to see George arrive with amateur boxer’s headgear on. They’re laughing it up and watching the video until Howie starts to yap at George. George repeatedly tells him to shut up then proceeds to tell him he’s acting like a 10-year-old. There’s more fireworks in the jury house than there had ever been in the BB house. Howie, dude, the game is over. What’s the use of going Busto now? The guy has lost all respect with me.

Back in the sanity of the house, Chilltown says “Operation Double Date worked too well.” Will and Boogie assure Erika that if any of them win POV, Janelle is gone. They then tell Janelle that if any of them win POV, Erika is gone. Janelle calls her a bitch as well. Will says it’s important to continue their showmance/flirtmance and keep them loyal. Then they show Janelle and Will flirting in bed. Janelle notes in the DR that she wishes she played emotionless like Will.

Next it’s the veto comp where Julie says “The winner COULD be the single vote that evicts someone from the house.” Uh, Julie, the HOH and nominees can’t vote. That’s three of four people in the house.

The backyard has four cubicles, each with a star on a board with clues. There’s also a small wading pool of some goo. Faces of houseguests are in the goo and the object is to put the 10 houseguests on the star in the correct positions first. Clues included “Week 5 HOH and evicted HG” so Danielle and Kaysar would be beside eachother on the star.

Everyone works quickly. Will of course doesn’t care if he wins. He pulls out a picture of Alison and thinks it’s Jennifer Aniston. Boogie keeps pressing the button and getting a buzzer, not realizing there’s still one picture in the pool. Finally, the veto is won. Of course, some blonde chick wins it. Janelle immediately kisses Will on the lips. Erika is frustrated. Janelle is relieved and Erika says she has to appeal to Janelle’s logic to save herself.

Erika immediately works on Janelle asking “Do you think you can beat them?” Will and Boogie don’t mind the conversation, saying Erika is grasping at straws. Erika then gives her word ON HER MOTHER, that she won’t evict Janelle if she wins HOH. Erika continues to talk to her both in the HOH room and in the backyard. She tells Janelle that Will is the biggest liar in the game. Erika then promises that she won’t take Boogie to the final two. She goes on, telling her that CT thinks they are a joke. They go inside for some wine. Will tells Boogie, “I’m going home.” He says in the DR that “operation double date is turning into operation double mistake.” We then see Erika promising again on her mother and toasting Janelle with the wine.

They talk again at night. This is Erika’s best game play of the season. She asks Janelle to “Think about what they did to you?” (Howie’s eviction for example). Then they compare notes and realize that Chilltown has been telling each of them that “You’re part of Chilltown.” They laugh about it. Erika says “I hate them.” Janelle says “I hate them more.” Erika says “They’ve been laughing at us all along. Let’s kill them.”

After commercial, they’re live in the living room. Julie asks about their bonds outside the house. Will and Janelle agree they’ll be friends outside the house. Erika believes she and Boogie will be friends but Boogie says “If I’m in the final two, I’ll see how the vote goes.” Will jokes “I have everybody.” Julie asks Janelle who she’s surprised at not being in the final four and she says Danielle.

The veto meeting is done and of course, Janelle saves herself. Will jokes to Boogie “I can’t believe you’re nominating me” (By default). Julie says the nominees fate is in Janelle’s hands.

Back from commercial, the nominees state their case. Erika calls Janelle “One of the fiercest competitors here.” Will says there’s a lot of hatred for him in the jury house and asks her to spare him that hatred.

Janelle says this is hard because they’re both good friends. Then says “I’ve made a lot of mistakes in the house and I’m done making mistakes. For Marcellas and Howie, I vote to evict you, Will.”

Just like that, the greatest strategist in reality TV history is leaving to some nice goodbyes.

Boogie ponders quietly. Janelle tells Erika “They were so surprised, especially Boogie.”

Julie asks Will, “How did the puppetmaster lose control?” Will says he’s not surprised that his lies caught up to them. On Operation Double Date, Will says all he could do was control as much as he could and do the best he could. He says he doesn’t have anything bad to say about them. On Janelle, he says she was playing him as much as he was playing her. He says the women will have to work really hard to get Boogie out of the house.

The goodbye messages are shown. Boogie says five years ago, they went in the house for the money and came out with a friendship which was much more important. Erika says “Your gig is up, buddy. You’ve just been had. Hope Howie doesn’t hurt you bad. Bye, Willie.” Janelle says she’s made a lot of mistakes (including in the video, mistakenly calling him Boogie).

Will in the end says he has no hard feelings and that it’s a great game.

It’s time for the final HOH competition. Three-parts, with part one starting now. They go to the backyard and a volcano, Mount HOH. They all climb to one side of the volcano with their back to the volcano, their feet on pegs, and both hands on a key. You know the drill, last one still there wins.

Just five seconds in, Boogie yells. “Julie?” Julie says “Yes, Mike?” Boogie: “Do you remember Richard Hatch?” Julie: “I sure do”. He then jumps off the mountain and says they have to take me to the final, they can’t take eachother (Hatch pulled out of the final immunity in Survivor 1 confident that Kelly or Rudy would take him to the final two). He sits down and watches the competition. Julie teases to commercial saying things are about to heat up a little more.

Back from commercial, Julie sets up the Thursday show and next Tuesday’s finale (No Sunday show). The second they return to the backyard, we see one of Janelle’s hands off the key. Just like that, Erika has won the first part of the HOH competition.

Who will win the final HOH?
Who will be the final two?
Who will have the guts to restrain Howie from getting at Will in the jury house?

Find out Thursday.

Then join us next Tuesday as we applaud together, an incredible season of Big Brother.
