MTV Mix – Volume 12

Archive, Features, Shows

We are down to only four shows! The “Final Four” perhaps. I have two shows to watch on Wednesday and two on Thursday. New shows are coming, though. When will they make their debut? I don’t know, but stick around as the hits just keep coming. And that includes this volume of the “MTV Mix”! Lets get to it…

MONDAY

Nothing here as I said. I did watch the Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat “Reunion Special” and it was as you expected. More drama along with some laughs. Nothing else to talk about, though. Lets move on.

TUESDAY

Yep, we’ll keep going as nothing but reruns here. Next!

WEDNESDAY

‘Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County’

Cameron is lifting some weights at the gym. Here comes Jessica and she is going to lift weights with him. They laugh about that for a little bit, but it’s time to get to the good stuff. Cameron gets a text on the way out and Jessica wants to know who it is? Could it be Kyndra? Or maybe Tessa? Yeah, you heard me! Tessa seems to want a piece of Cameron as well!

Chase and Tessa talk now. Tessa and Raquel on going on a trip to San Diego. Who is going with them? It’s Cameron and his friend, Nick, of course! Chase wants to know what is going on between Tessa and Cameron. Tessa says nothing is going on. They are just friends. They then have that awkward conversation, where you are talking to a friend of the opposite sex and asking about their “love life” and pretending that you are interested in it, when you really couldn’t care unless you are involved in it. Tessa wishes that Chase could come on the trip, though. He’s too busy with his band.

Cameron and Nick talk now on the way to meet up with Tessa and Raquel. Nick tells Cameron to let Jessica loose. Cameron feels most comfortable around her than any other girl, though. Nick says he can get that with other girls, if he invested the time. Cameron then says that Jessica doesn’t treat him good enough to fully commit to her, so it might be time to let her go. He probably will be making a move on Tessa in San Diego.

Cameron and Tessa chat. Cameron says some of the stupidest stuff I have heard so far. He basically says that for the past three years he has been living life and enjoyed being single. Now he’s ready for a committment. He also says he is done “partying”. Right, he’s like 17. So from 14 – 17, he has lived his life and he’s ready to “settle down”. You are still high school and in your overall life, high school means very little. It’s like he thinks he’s 10 years older than what he is. Anyways, we’ll move along. That was basically a speech to lure Tessa in.

It worked as later Cameron and Tessa do “hook up”. This comes after an odd appearance from a odd man named “Taco” at a restaurant they were all eating at. Tessa tells “Taco” that she likes Cameron, when everyone is gone. I wish I were making this stuff up. That seemed a little too “scripted” to me. Why is “Taco” sitting down to talk to Tessa and not anyone else in the restuarant? Oh well, the point is Tessa throws her name into Cameron’s hat. Which girl will he pull out tonight?

Cameron goes back to “hang out” with Jessica. Jessica has a feeling that Cameron did something with Tessa, but Cameron denies it. Jessica says that Cameron “frustrates” her. I know the feeling. Jessica does have feelings for Cameron and wants to continue to hang out with him. Camerson says that is cool with him. Of course, he’ll want to hang out with Tessa and Kyndra and any girl with a beating heart! But that ends this episode and I have to wonder if Jessica will ever learn her lesson. First Jason and now Cameron. Not good Jessica!

‘Two-a-Days’

It’s time for “Hell Week”! Hoover lost last week and there goes their national ranking. They were #2 and now they are probably out of the “Top 25”. Alex says he can handle the loss, but is not sure if others can. Coach Propst gets everyone together and he wants to know if anyone thought they played the best they could to win that game. Cornelius (#1), a Quarterback/Receiver stands up and he thought he did. Coach Propst agrees. He also says that Bryan and Max played hard at times as well. But that’s it. So Cornelius is stepping out as the “leader” of this team. And if Ross can’t play, because of his injury, Cornelius will step in as QB and “officially” lead this team.

This week they play one of their biggest rivals. I think they say this every week, but we’ll just go with that. It’s a tough week of practice as you might imagine. Coach Propst doesn’t mind losing, but not the way they lost last week. They played poorly. Max gets yelled at during practice for not being a leader on defense. Defensive Coordinator, Jeremy Pruitt, is concerned about Max and talks to Max’s stepdad about it.

Relationship talk now. Repete has a girlfriend at another school named Megan. She is a 9 on his scale. He said he loved her, but may not have meant it like that. Interesting comment, but Repete’s friend thinks she’s a “keeper”. She is cute. I agree with Repete’s rating. Meanwhile, Alex makes up with Kristin it appears. They are going to the homecoming dance together. He puts roses in her car for her to find after school. She likes that a lot.

Time for the game! And Ross is out for a month with a concussion. Cornelius is in. Hoover vs. Vestavia is underway! And Hoover dominates this game from start to finish. They get out to a 21-0 and win by a score of 24-6. Repete, Cornelius, Goose, and Dennis (#30) all had big games. Ross was sad that he had to miss this game. Coach Propst is happy about this game. Alex says this win took a lot of pressure off of them. They are back in the mix! You get it?!

THURSDAY

‘Wild ‘N Out’

This week’s guest is Jamie Kennedy. He’s an actor, a comedian, and a rapper. You might recently know him from Blowin’ Up, which I covered in this very column a few months back. He leads the black team, which consists of Corey Holcomb, Nyima Funk, Deray Davis, Spanky Hayes, and Mikey Day. The red team is Nick Cannon along with Rasika Mathur, Affion Crockett, Josh Funk, Marques Ray, and Leonard Robinson.

The first round is called “Get Well Soon”. Basically, DJ D-Wrek will throw out a type of card and the members of each team will have to tell us what it says on the inside of the card. And this round was not that funny at all. Some funny parts, but overall nothing. I guess I will give it to the black team with Jamie Kennedy winning the round for them!

The second round is called “Star Sightings”. The team members have to find famous people in the audience. At least make fun of people who look like famous people. I give it to the black team again with Mikey Day winning this round. Runner-up goes to Jamie Kennedy.

The third round is called “Remix”. Yes, each team takes traditional songs and “remixes” them. You know what this is all about. The red team gets “La Cucaracha”, while the black team gets “Mary Had a Little Lamb”. Both were very funny, but I have to give it to the red team. Nick Cannon wins that round for them. Runner-up goes to Leonard Robinson.

The final round is “WildStyle”. Both teams freestyle rap against each other. Chamillionaire is the musical guest and he helps judge as well. Red team came on at the end, but the black team still wins this round and wins the show! And as you might expect Jamie Kennedy wins that round and is your MVP for this show! Mikey Day was right behind him, but really Jamie Kennedy is at home on this game. He’s a comedian, an actor, AND a rapper. That’s what they do on this show and Nick had some weak members on his team this week.

‘Pimp My Ride’

Xzibit helps Tyler this week. He has a 1965 El Camino. First off, the color of the car is “rust” brown! He got this truck from his grandfather, who won it in a poker game. It’s a loud car with the back window knocked out of it. And the door won’t shut. He also runs out of gas all the time. He gets 7 miles per gallon. He works as a cook at a gas station. He friends call him the “Grill Master”. There’s also a rat nest inside as well.

Xzibit notices the rims on the El Camino. They are the same ones on the “General Lee” from the Dukes of Hazzard and the van from The A-Team! That was the coolest thing back then. 30 years later, not so much. Somehow this all leads to Xzibit missing my father, Bill Clinton. How? I don’t know, but it’s quite odd. But he does miss him. Oh, he apparently drove an El Camino. Got it! Back to this one, though. Xzibit looks at the engine and it’s all rusted. This has been upgraded, though, which is funny! He has a “Foreman Grill” in the back of the truck, so he can tailgate at high school football games. They are still talking about Bill Clinton and Tyler calls him the “first black President”, which Xzibit laughs about and then tells him to not repeat that.

The GAS crew gets to work. Mad Mike plans to have a party installed in the back of the truck. That includes a BBQ Pit with an automatic condiment dispenser. The color on the outside is going to be a metallic purple with yellow, orange, and red flames down the side. Black seats with purple inserts inside the car. They install a high-power engine with a “blower” on the outside that sucks in more air, which generates more power for the engine. The car also has satellite TV hooked into it. And the biggest amp that you can put in a car!

The best part of this car is the back of it. The TVs and the BBQ pit and everything with that. The ULTIMATE tailgating party car! Xzibit even throws in tickets to see the Oakland Raiders first football game this season and a Randy Moss jersey. Too bad that got shutout and got blown out by the Chargers on Monday! Still the car looks good.

And that ends the 12th volume of the “MTV Mix”! If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or feedback of any kind..send them my way!!

I’ll see you next week when we mix things up a bit!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
