Pancakes In the Age of Enlightenment: Week Two Preview

Tomorrow, (Sunday), IP is making the big switchover to V3. Ergo, I won’t be able to post updates on Sunday, which makes me sad. However, as far as I know, we’re still running V2 right now, so that gives me time to preview tomorrow’s games. I’ll still be banging out commentary as the day goes on Sunday, but you won’t be able to read it until Monday, when we unveil IP V3.

For now, let’s examine the NFL tilts that will keep us transfixed tomorrow.

BUFFALO BILLS (0-1)
AT MIAMI DOLPHINS (0-1)

VEGAS SAYS- DOLPHINS 23-16

The Bills threw a big-time scare into the Patriots in Foxboro last week, only to come up just short, losing 19-17 thanks to a sack by Ty Warren in the end zone on JP Losman. This week, the Bills have another tough divisional road game. They face a Dolphins team that is in danger of starting 0-2. I think the Dolphins will be able to stick to the running game in this one against a bad Bills rush defense (Maroney, Dillon, and Kevin Faulk combined for 180 yards against them last week), and grind out a win.

CAROLINA PANTHERS (0-1)
AT MINNESOTA VIKINGS (1-0)

VEGAS SAYS- PANTHERS 19-17

Yes, Carolina laid a colossal egg last week. But no team relies more on one player offensively than the Panthers rely on Steve Smith. I’m not saying that’s a good thing, but it’s a fact. Smith is questionable this week, and might be without MLB Dan Morgan, who is suffering the after effects of a concussion. The Vikings looked poised in picking up a season-opening road win over the Redskins, but the Redskins are under suspicion of sucking. This game will be a much better indicator of where they are as a team. This one really is too close to call, especially with Smith’s status in doubt. I’ll take the Panthers, just because I can’t see them starting 0-2.
