TV Babies: Prison Break – Episode 2-4

Shows

Some quick thoughts on the last two episodes of Prison Break:

Episode 2-4, First Down
If car chasing was a sport, Billick certainly has Lincoln beat. In a scene right out of Midnight Run, Billick kicks the crap out of the Brothers Scofield’s car, and thus has three hostages (including the lovely Nika) with quite a large price tag on their heads. But Billick’s thinking about bigger loot in Utah. Unfortunately, he’s not very bright – and gets duped first by Lincoln’s half-assed flat-tire trick, then by Nika’s charms. He’s left handcuffed with his dim-witted partner in an abandoned house, but not before getting under Michael’s skin regarding Sara. I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of Billick. We have, alas, seen the last of Nika – who lamely attempts to lay claim to the Utah fortune herself. She’s left in the dust, with only a polite “good luck” from Michael…
Meanwhile, Tweener’s ride to Utah is softening up to him (must be slim pickings at school) until a cop shows up at the motel where they’re staying and blows his cover. Gotta say, I almost felt sorry for him. John takes Mahone’s bait over freedom with his family, and pays dearly. And the creepiest creep of them all, T-Bag, keeps on keepin’ on. His latest filthy crime: killing a man who was kind enough to give him a lift. Why? Because the man’s teenage daughter rats him out for a little innocent groping…
I enjoyed the twist that had Tweener, John and T-Bag all at different trashy motels at the same time. As for the Sara/Kellerman AA meetings, not so much…

Episode 2-5, Map 1213
When I saw the coming attractions for this week’s episode, I was so looking forward to the end of the line for T-Bag. Surely, if the Brothers Scofield got their hands on the one-handed rat again – they would surely finish the job. Or at least beat him senseless. But nooooooo…instead, they take his word that he doesn’t have the map that will lead them to Westmoreland’s fortune (after risking everything by entering yet another municipal building filled with cops to retrieve the map in the first place). And wind up reuniting with he and Tweener (the two guys they most wanted to be rid of) to find their “X marks the spot” now looks like the neighborhood in Poltergeist
Mahone’s certainly becoming stranger and darker in this one. His mood swings are getting wider, he’s making drug deals, and he keeps looking into the water. This isn’t something as twisted as the black oil from the X-Files or Twin Peaks, is it?
The oh so naive Sara is doing everything she can to lead Kellerman to Lincoln and Michael. And it’s a coin-flip deciding whose “break” is going to end sooner: Sucre or C-Note. Stay tuned!

So what’s your take? Is Prison Break still living up to the hype? Or will all these close calls become tiresome? Let me know what you think…
