MNF most watched cable TV show in 13 years

The AP has reported that ESPN’s Monday Night Football game between Jacksonville and Pittsburgh was the most watched cable TV show since a 1993 NAFTA debate on CNN between Ross Perot and Al Gore. The MNF game was viewed by an estimated 9.8 million viewers, while the Perot/Gore debate pulled in 11.2 million.

Now, this sounds nice: but please keep in mind that last year’s MNF opener on ABC had 19.6 million total viewers. So yes, the move to cable has definitely had a massive impact on the numbers. (Not the mention the fact that some people still seem to be confused about where to find games on Sunday and Monday night.) (Of course, those people are rather stupid, and shouldn’t count anyway.)
