More Pirate Films on the Horizon?

News, Rumors

Mark Zoradi, president of the Disney Motion Pictures Group, has said that the upcoming sequel in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise may not be the final film of the series after all. But rather the final part of it’s own trilogy, with new ones down the line possibly focusing on new characters.

Yeah, if I had the third film to ever pass the 1 billion dollar mark I wouldn’t be so quick to wrap things up so soon either. Depp has already stated for the record that he would gladly come back and play the role of Captain Jack for possibly six films. While Bloom has said that he was finished with epics after the Pirates last remaining film is completed. So they could easily drop the Wil and Elizabeth story after the third movie and carry on with new characters.

What do you guys think about this news? Should they end the series as a trilogy, or carry on with more adventures surrounding Captain Jack Sparrow? Discuss it here

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End will be released globally on May 25th, 2007.
