Domi Retires, Pronger Talks and Bertuzzi Aches

Tie Domi

Longtime tough guy Tie Domi has announced his retirement as a player but will continue to beat people mercilessly whenever he gets the opportunity.

The Maple Leafs bought out the remaining year of his contract and are paying him $833,000 over two years, two-thirds of the $1.25 million he was owed.

Domi played 11 seasons with the Leafs and said he “just couldn’t imagine wearing another jersey.” A sentiment that being bought out and not being offered a contract by another team can surely stir up.

TSN in Canada has also announced that Domi will now join it’s broadcast team. Really, I’m not kidding.

“I am excited and nervous in my new role and I promise to bring the same passion and dedication to the broadcast arena that I delivered on the ice night in and night out,” Domi said during a 30-minute news conference at Air Canada Centre organized by the Toronto Maple Leafs. “I’m not going to hold much back.

“What you saw on the ice is what you’re going to see on TV every Wednesday night from coast to coast. I might need a six-second delay when I start. I’m not a guy who vanillas many things.”

So all those heart felt apologies were lies?

Chris Pronger

I knew I’d be Public Enemy No. 1 … but I’m pissed off by all the rumors and innuendo surrounding my leaving,” Pronger told The Edmonton Journal. “I’ve heard all the nasty stuff, about all my girlfriends … that I’ve got more kids than I started with. I must have six kids out there.

Hot chicks in Orange County beware, Chris Pronger is in town!

Bertuzzi

Bertuzzi played his first game for the Panthers last night….sort of. He wasn’t able to finish after suffering bruised ribs in the second period and the Panthers didn’t follow up with any other information.

Pre-season

Senators vs Penguins takes place in Halifax, Nova Scotia tonight and Winnipeg still doesn’t have an NHL team!
