Ultimate Marvel Handbook # 182

Hey Daron good to see you again bud.

Sorry, actually this is fellow editor and occasional Marvel reader Kevin S. Mahoney stepping in for Daron, who is laboring overnight making Uruk-Hai or something. So the Marvel knowledge may not be the ginchiest, but the repartee will at least be par.

I‘m good and excited about Civil War 4. I‘m telling you I loved the issue. It was the best book this week. I am hoping people will send in more e-mails about it too.

I actually had a bet as to whether or not it’d be late again. I lost. The check’s in the mail, Doug!

How about we start then?

To quote the great Tone Loc, “Let’s do it!”

i was wondering what the history of Quasar was since circa ’94. i always liked the character and after reading about him coming back (thanks babos!) I was curious as to his history since around that time. I stopped collecting for a long while once I went to college, and when I came back there was just too much that I had missed to try to catch up. I think you may have done this before, and with my track record of being very forgetful, I could have asked this before. Again thanks in advance.

Quasar has since been seen only sporadically, usually in the context of Avengers stories. During “Avengers: Infinity”, Quasar helped defend the universe from aliens called Infinities. In the “Maximum Security” crossover, Quasar absorbed the essence of Ego the Living Planet and again exiled himself into space, but he has since been seen in the company of the Avengers once more. Stories in the Avengers as well as the Fantastic Four and Marvel Team-Up have depicted Quasar on Earth again, causing speculation that he has somehow gotten rid of Ego behind-the-scenes.

Quasar recently appeared in the Annihilation: Nova miniseries with a new costume. At the end of this miniseries, he is apparently killed as Annihilus drains the energy from his Quantum Bands.

Hey look kids, a depowered Marvel character that isn’t a mutant”¦ and Big Ben, and Parliament!

“Who is Doctor Strange?” Indeed! Thats like asking “Who is Flavor
Flav?”

Well…yeah, okay.

Anyhow…

I think everyone might joke about this for a bit

I’d like to bust a cap over that, I really would (especially considering the Surreal Life and its spin-offs) but I referenced Tone Loc, so it’d really be a pot/kettle situation. Onwards!

1. When did Cable become the ruler of his own country? I somehow missed this x-story somewhere in the shuffle. Is this a Genosha-type country? Or is he more in line with Black Panther? Some help please.

Cable/Deadpool # 6 is the start of it. Over the Pacific Ocean, Cable raises a part of his space station Greymalkin. Another part is found in the Australian Outback and yet another one in Argentina. He renamed it Providence and relocated people there.

2. Did Ultimate Doom go to zombie world before or after ‘Marvel Zombies #5’?
I think it was the present at the time of that universe.

Y’know I think you’re dodging the question there pal, but since I don’t know the answer either, I’m gonna completely agree with you! Huzzah!

3. Is Juggernaut at 100% power or is there another Juggs out there somewhere?

Actually you’re going to get more answers on this in New Excalibur. He don’t have power right now though.

Oh man, I could have certainly made a Juggs reference, or posted an adult-oriented link but that would really just be juvenile. Forget I mentioned it.

Just a quick note regarding Thor v Ares, they have fought before in Thor’s own mag, I cant remember the exact issue but it was just after Eric Masterson left to become Thunderstrike and the Infinity Crusade was just kicking off. Thor was going slightly insane and was sent by Odin to wander the stars to find himself.

Pluto & Ares took this opportunity to ambush him and Thor wiped the floor with Ares leaving him with severe injuries. They were so bad even Zeus wanted revenge against the thunderer. hope this helps”¦

Yep helps a ton. Thanks

Hey Jim & DOL –

Appreciate the work you guys do. Couple of Q’s for y’all:

* The whole ‘top 10 places in Marvel’ deal got me to thinking about Marvel’s basis in reality as we know it – DC has Metropolis, Gotham, Kitty City, whatever, but Marvel characters always had a home base in the recognizable (for the most part) USA. That being said, it seems like the majority of characters are based on the east coast. I know the Avengers were farmed out to the west coast, and even the great lakes (?!), but I’d love a general overview of characters with a home base outside of NY.

Well let’s see
Black Panther: Wakanda
GLC: Great Lakes
Rangers: Around Texas
Sunfire: Japan
Alpha Flight: Canada
Man-Thing: Florida
Thunderbolts?
Pantheon: somewhere in the west
Runaways: LA
Namor: Atlantis
There’s others in various locations as well.

The T’bolts were based in NYC initially, then they had the secret base of the Secret Empire for a while, which was out west. Zemo’s new folding castle (which is less like a Hayao Miyazaki movie than it sounds) has pieces in all sorts of places linked by portals. And let’s not forget New Mexico, home of area 102, a big locale for the Hulk for a while. And the Thieves and Assassins Guilds (birthplace of Remy Lebeau) were in Louisiana, of course.

* Got a Nintendo DS recently and bought the Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects game, which is as bad as they come. Marvel vs. Capcom is the best Marvel game I’ve played, tho I enjoyed Xmen Legends 2. Do you 2 have any recommendations as to the best Marvel video games past/present ?

I can go future lol. Marvel Ultimate Alliance looks damn good.
Personally I liked both X-Men Legends games, the Punisher game, The last Spider-Man game, and the Hulk Ultimate distruction

I haven’t bought a video game since 1998. I did however get the Spider-Man Plug n Play TV game bought for me over Christmas (THANKS AIDAN! Lots of LOVE, nephew!) and it rocks while being a throwback to NES/Atari style game play.

* John Romita Jr is a good talent, but I don’t understand the heaping of praise that he seems to receive. His style has been the same ( I bought his Amazing and Uncanny runs when they were originally published) , and I appreciate it for what it is, yet I’m perplexed as to why folks think he’s so good. I think it has to do with his exclusive relationship with Marvel, though I don’t know if he’s done any work at DC. Your take?

Well I think he’s a damn fine artist. Likely Marvels biggest artist as well. Most of the artist change companies a lot and people like other artist but when someone is loyal like Romita with Marvel it seems the fans really can latch onto them a lot easier.

I could swear JRJR did some sort of Batman related thing at some point”¦ a cross over with the Punisher? Something? Ah-ha! Proven right by E-bay! It was Punisher/Batman Deadly Knights! So he got to have his cake and eat it too, at least once. And since the man did the art for my favorite Daredevil miniseries OF ALL TIME, I can’t knock him even a little.

* World War Hulk is Marvel’s summer 07 big dealy-o. In the past they’ve had Onslaught (Xavier), Secret Wars (Beyonder), House of M (Wanda), maybe others, but I’m wondering what single character you’d structure a line-wide summer crossover event around”¦ and why. Wolverine is disqualified due to overexposure, and Gambit is disqualified ‘cuz he sucks. Thoughts?

Hmmm. Right now? Well I’d like them to center on something big envolving Cap maybe. Wait that might be Civil war lol. Annihilus? No that’s Annihilation. Thanos? No Infinity Gauntlet. Damn this is hard. Maybe Doctor Strange. They should use him more anyway

DOOM! I think DOOM! should be the focus of an event. He’s got a history with the MU like no other, a huge power base, and tons of potential, from tech to time travel to mystic skills! DOOM! should be the next super-villain to cause a company wide Marvel event!

* Who has the most annoying accent in the Marvel Universe ? I think Rogue with her ‘mah hand is in mah pocket’ is pretty ridiculous, who do you think is the worst in over-eccentuated dialect ?

Rogue. I can deal with Thor a lot better then most.

Hmm, that’s tough. I vill haff to go wif Batrock thee Lee-per! Just because he’s French doesn’t mean he has to read like Inspector Clouseau!

* Omega Flight looks cool. As a fan of the original Alpha Flight, I wonder how the property faltered to the point that the satirical Lobdell series was greenlit. That being said, what do you think went wrong with the original Alpha Flight ? It seemed like Byrne put forth a good tale and then every story after that revolved around what he did.

The problem was some of the later writers. They didn’t always put the effort into the book they should’ve. With a new book now it will be interesting to watch what happens

* (my) Top 10 Marvel Mutants, based upon how they utilize their gifts:
10 – Kitty Pride – she phases thru stuff, simple pimple
9 – Madrox – Multiple men working to make things right ? Awesome.
8 – Sabretooth – good for killing (616), not much else.
7 – Cyclops – he has a good handle on his power, and leadership to boot
6 – Jean Grey – quite direct when the Phoenix force isn’t around.
5 – Mystique – shape shifting equates to her approach to life
4 – Emma Frost – her powers back up her desire to be ‘a Player’.
3 – Apocalypse – he just keeps trying”¦
2 – Xavier – he has the power to muck up a bunch of people, yet chooses to do so as it fits his means
1- Magneto – He uses his gift to put forth his agenda, in a direct way, for the most part (I’m still confused on the Xorn tip)..

Not bad at all

No Wolverine ‘cuz he has no idea why he’s where he’s at for the most part.

lol I‘m not commenting

Anyhoo, thanks gents and keep up the good work-

Welcome

What is this “work” you speak of?

Jon emails

I have a question for you guys, well rather a few. First is about Thor… is there any way that Thor would be a sleeper agent for Cap? Cable said “a good person died today” but is there a chance that Thor would have turned and killed off someone on the registered side? I mean that side seems to have way more potential cannon fodder? And besides with Sentry listed as registered (though it didn’t seem too strong of an endorsement in civil war files), Ares (hinted as him being on Iron Man’s Avengers), and Thor on one side… outside of the Hulk who could Cap bring in to stop them… would seem a little too one sided no? Granted Cap has Hercules, not to mention Cable, but still. Unless after the X-men get done with Bishop, they get involved for Cap

Yes, Cap is outnumbered at the moment but he’s got abilities to gain new allies as we go. Quite a lot of people are not for this act. So in the end he might just gain a nice amount of help in a big battle.

The second would be Marvel has indicated someone will jump from Iron Man’s side to Cap’s. Now the obvious choice would be Spidey as they have been implicating he may jump in Amazing Spider-man. But who else would be potential jumpers? Sue Storm maybe… seems to be a given that she will side with Cap… Maybe even Sentry who seems to kinda be the forgotten man in the registered side and would be a good addition as a
powerhouse to Cap’s version of the Avengers (I have a strong feeling US Agent will be in Omega Flight instead of Cap)… who else could it be?

I’m thinking it’s either Sue or Pete but what about Johnny? He did just come out of a coma. Very possible option.

Finally where will Doom factor into Civil war… Seems to be quite conspicuous by his absence?

He doesn’t have one at the moment but I bet Doom is watching and waiting for the right time

DOOM! We need more DOOM! Oh wait, I already did that bit once already”¦ nuts.

I’m a guy who has only been back into comics for a few months now. And before that wasn’t buying anything on a constant basis since the Age of Apocalypse. Just got back into things after I did some reading up on what was happening and had happened on the internet. (I have a very quiet late shift).

Anyway, hope you don’t mind if I ask a couple of questions. And even comment on some of the things you guys have said.

We love questions around here.

I like questions too. But I hereby remind everyone that other than the above few comments, I’ve never made a comment in MH before.

Firstly in this week’s handbook a guy asked who has got the best win/lost in the marvel world. After speaking to a couple of my friends about it, we could only come up with one name. Squirrel Girl. From what I’ve read and seen she is quite possibly the only character in all of comics who has got a 100% winning record. I guess she is a joke character, but she is also I believe completely in continuity.

You know I didn‘t even think of Squirrel Girl. You are very correct that she doesn’t lose. She has a perfect record.

Can you think of anyone who has anywhere near her win/loss record? And how do you think she would do against some of Marvels big hitting heroes? Such as Cap or Wolverine?

(A one-shot written by Dan Slott, Wolverine vs. Squirrel Girl, would be gold!).
Next a couple of questions (or some more questions I guess, since I’ve already asked a couple about Squirrel Girl).

Yep I will say Squirrel Girl kicks butt

1. X-Man aka Nate Grey, from what I’ve read about what happened to him after the AoA. Seems the guy ended up with a child. Has anything since that time ever been mentioned about the child? Has he/she even got a name, or even a sex. You would think with who his father was and his mother’s ties to Sinister, that Sinister would have been very interested in the kid. But I’ve been unable to find any info on the child anywhere.

Nothing has been said of the child since the series ended it’s possible they forgot it or it’s possible they are waiting for the right time to use it
2. Last time I was in my local comic shop, I had a very quick flick through a comic about Wolverine and the Darkness, from the brief bit I saw looked kinda interesting. But who or what is the Darkness? Again it’s something I’ve had trouble finding anything about.

Darkness is a Top Cow character. I personally can’t tell you much about the character so I suggest go here:

3. This one could be hard, as it could very easily be my memory playing tricks on me. But I remember reading a comic a long long time ago (at least 10 years). Where the Thing was just walking along a street dressed in a long coat with a hat on, where he got attacked by several heroes, all of which got their asses kicked by the Thing. Not 100% sure who the heroes were, but I’m sure one was Shulkie. (I can remember her getting stuck when the Thing wrapped her up in the pavement). And I think one of the others was Daredevil. If you have got any info about this comic, can you tell me what it was? And why the heroes where attacking the Thing? (My apologies if this is vague, but its something that has been playing on my mind for a while).
This one is a little to vague for me. I’m not sure but it just don’t sound familiar. Maybe one of our readers will help.

They better, because I got nothin’. Get to it loyal readers!

4. Typhoid Mary. The last information I can find about this wonderful girl, is when she appeared in the Deadpool ongoing and the Deadpool/Daredevil crossover. Has anything happened to her since then?

Daredevil 46-48: The Kingpin reawakens Mary’s “other” personality. Milla and Lori discuss Matt’s costumed profession. The Kingpin hunts down his right hand man, Walter. And Mary decides to visit Matt. The Kingpin actively uses Typhoid and lets both his friends and his enemies know that he’s back in town. The FBI confronts the Kingpin at Josie’s bar, as does Turk! Mary goes after Matt. Jessica gets caught in the crossfire, and Luke Cage shows up to help out. Agent Driver comes to Matt’s house to talk to him. Milla & Matt discuss the day’s events and some of Matt’s past. Bullseye discusses coming back to work for the Kingpin.
Mary was imprisoned on the ‘Raft’, a maximum-security prison for super powered criminals.

Electro later led an attack on the Raft, helping the prisoners break out. While the Avengers came on the scene and managed to stop some of the prisoners, Mary was one of the ones that managed to escape.

5. I presuming that you have been keeping abreasted of the marvel ultimate alliance game that is due out later this year. (If not my apologies for presuming). Out of the characters which have been declared playable so far is there anyone you don’t think should be a playable character? Or anyone you would like to see as a playable character who isn’t?

Well I wouldn’t make cosmic entities playable. I mean the basic entities and not people like Surfer. Surfer should be playable.
I’m not sure we know a full list of playable so I’d like a list before answering who else should be in play

Lastly, you guys where asking about something good to debate. On my visits around the web I found a site, which seemed to have something that caused a great deal of debate. Which also had some great and interesting points from a lot of people in the comic industry. It also seemed that it could have already been debated to death, but everything from there is around 6/7 years old. So it could possibly be something that could be ready to come up again. I’ll just say 3 words that should tell you what I’m talking about.

“women in refrigerators”.

um ok now I‘m more curious. Do you mean the Hembeck/David thing? Because if you are I‘m still researching that thing more before I‘m even touching it.

Isn’t that more a DC Comics thing? Like the girlfriend of the hero being horribly mutilated/murdered to give the hero a reason to be a hero (see Kyle Rayner)? I’m just sayin'”¦

Anyway, hope you’re both well. And that you get back to me.

Good here and see you next time

Jim,

Just a question on where a couple people are since I have not keep up with the Civil War as well I could have and I know its bringing out a lot of old and newer heroes.
Where are Paladin, Solo, and Annex and where do they stand if they are around still…

Paladin is in Heroes For Hire actually.

Solo was in Frontline as being part of the underground

Annex I haven’t seen in years. I’m not sure where he is

Two..Whatever happened to Humbug? And the Looter? Last I remember Shield took him in along with a fake meteor and claimed it all very hush hush secret to Spider-man who was just left confused.

Humbug reappeared in the Daughters of Dragon series and now is in Heroes For Hire.

Looter himself was taken prisoner by SHIELD. Could appear in Civil War
Finally…There was a short lived series not too too long ago where Spider-Man teamed up with different people and they all connected with some guy named keeping track of Spider-man.

Anyway in one of them he teamed up with Dr. Strange to go against Dracula and then tried to help Shield against Hulk who was dying after Onslaught, a guy showed up with something called Null Field or something..Who was that guy? Where is he from? Where did he go?

I think you mean the old Spider-Man team-up. But that name is throwing me off the character. I’m not familiar with it. Again let’s see if readers can help

I know you guys can help..You always do. Thanks

Welcome

I hope you can help with a few questions I have..Some about fairly old and very rarely used people..

Tiger-Man of the old Atlas Comics line, whatever happened to him?

I’m not sure Marvel has even used the character since Atlas. Could be wrong but I haven’t seen him

Captain America villian The Tumbler? What’s his story?

Both Tumblers:

John Robert Keane: trained with the acrobats, strongmen and jugglers at a circus to master their skills after being rejected by a gang. His training complete, he decided to take on Captain America, planning to make his name by defeating the hero. Although he believed he succeeded in defeating the hero (it was actually the Adaptoid), He was soon trounced by the real Captain America.

The Tumbler was later slain in an attempt to frame the Captain for his murder.
Michael Kenneth Keane: Brother of the original Tumbler, who teamed with Captain America to expose Guardian Life Insurance’s scam to insure super-villains and then renege on their policies.

Asbestos Man? Any ideas on where he went?

Prison lol. Last I saw him he was taken in.

Adding to the legion of Losers that Spider-man had a few years back, why was The Walrus not included? What’s his story and where is he?

Real Name: Hubert Carpenter
Dual Identity: Unknown
Current Occupation: Mass-Destructionist, Cab Driver
Citizenship: U.S.A. citizen
Legal Status: Unknown
Place of Birth: Unknown
Marital Status: Unknown
Known Relatives: Uncle Humbert
Usual Bases: New York
Groups: The Terrible Two
Education: Unknown. I doubt he can learn anything
Strength Level: Proportionate strength of a walrus
Powers: Proportionate strength, agility and speed of a walrus, though agility and speed should be in limitations
Abilities: He has the wonderful ability of making every opponent lose focus and start laughing uncontrollably whenever he speaks

The Walrus is a supervillain and foe of Spider-man. He wears a costume that resembles a walrus (or a giant plush toy) and despite being physically strong, proved to be completely inept and pointless. Where most supervillains are interested in stealing money or taking over the world, the Walrus was content with mindless property damage. He considered his role as a supervillain as that of a “mass-destructionist”.

The man who would one day don the guise of the savage Walrus, was once a cab driver named Hubert Carpenter. Hubert’s uncle Humbert (a mad scientist/eccentric janitor) used devious experimental technology to endow Hubert with the attributes that would surely make him into the pre-eminent supervillain of all times. Hubert, now with the “proportionate speed, strength and agility of a walrus”, started causing havok.
The deadly and nefarious White Rabbit, another minor villain, found him and they formed the Terrible Two. He and his sidekick fought the New Defenders and Spider-man and were easily beaten. One of their common goals was to murder Frogman II, who had humiliated them both in the past. However, it was soon revealed that Frogman had little to worry about as the Walrus is the sort of supervillain that has to wear velcro shoes in order to avoid accidentally tying his shoes to each other.
Don’t have a reason for no mention in Legion of Losers

I actually loved The Terrible Two/Frogman feud. It was some of the funniest reading in comics. It was the break issue in Spectacular Spider-Man between that giant Vermin arc and the subsequent madness/death of Harry Osborne. Truly risible reading!

Where is the Hate-Monger these days?

Last I saw Hate Monger was in the third volume Captain America. The fact that comes to mind to me now is he could come back in Cap after Civil War.

Razorback?

returned to Earth, and Razorback was last seen inexplicably fighting the Human Torch in one panel of the Fantastic Four V3 #24.

Just two more?

The Matador, a daredevil villian

Spider-Man: Tangled Web #13 was his last appearance Matador, in full costume, appeared at one of those “Bar with No Name” joints where costumed super-villains hang out. He was enjoying a few beers and some casual conversation with Stilt-Man. Eloganto took offense when Stilt-Man questioned his masculinity based on his costume, but he let it drop when Stilt-Man offered to buy the next round.

Marvel Boy from that mini-series a few years back

Civil War Young Avengers/Runaways #2. Easy one lol
Thanks for ANY help guys.

A Faceless name posted

Jim maybe you can help me.

Sure

Thor’s threads: Why does dude look like a lady?

Something has always been off to me about his attire, and I finally realized he sports more of a Valkyrie look (the helmet is without a doubt) than a Viking or Norse god look. With a Valkyrie being a female, it really makes no sense.

And Definition for Valkyrie just for fun: any of the beautiful maidens attendant upon Odin who bring the souls of slain warriors chosen by Odin or Tyr to Valhalla and there wait upon them.

I think it’s the long hair. I mean that. I don’t think his features are womanly but heck you are quite correct with the hair

And not to knock the God of Thunder, but those are really girlie go-go boots too. The sleeveless shirt with the metal disks is macho though”¦

“9. About Strong Guy from last week: He is in constant pain from the existing distortion, although he hides it well, traditionally playing the role of team comedian to distract himself. Doesn’t it seem like most team comedians or just comedic heroes, are the one’s with the most problems/stress, but use humor to hide it?

Yep. Deadpool does it. Peter does it in ways even though he’s not in pain. I think it’s an old habit that characters use when they can.”

Bill Hicks did it and he is my comedic hero.

Heh never heard of him

Hey, Bill Hicks was a great comic! He even made it into Preacher if memory serves. I believe he died of the big C. No good comic should ever die of anything but old age.

Cory emails

Sup guys, Cory’s here with more questions, rants, raves, & rebuttals. Let’s start:

THESE WERE MY QUESTIONS PRIOR TO MY COMIC PURCHASES ON 9-20-06!

Hey Cory you know you’re right on time lol

1- Is there any sort of connection between Speedball being a former intern of Damage Control, him also being the “cause or scapecoat” of Civil War, & “Walter Declun”(CEO of Damage Control, Inc.)???

None that I know of. But I do think the New Warriors or even Speedball himself appeared in the Damage Control series. I just have to check my facts.

2- “I have to say this. I think Marvel can fix up anything. I don’t see why many people are against some of the things Marvel is doing. They just haven’t figured out Marvel is designing a plan. They have a grand plan behind everything including Spider-Man unmasking.” So what’s your idea of the great plan?

Well you have Pete switch sides. Then as he’s seen as Peter Parker on the streets some time after Civil War the black costume Spider-Man shows up. This figure is there to help Spider-Man get his identity back unknown to Pete

3- “More fans like Cap more then ever in ways. You can thank Brubaker for most of that factor. You have some intriguing factors in your thinking though. But I think in ways Marvel is going to do it right.” You’re right, Cap is just so, so Gangsta. Just recently he’s fought Wolverine in a standstill, surfed on a fighter jet, became a total anti-hero against the govt., etc, etc, etc. He’s the Man.

Cool you agreed; I love Cap more then ever now

4- My top 5 most deserving (way more deserving than Ant-Man) heroes for a post C.W. title, again: 1- Luke Cage. 2- Shroud. 3- Black Tarantula. 4- Taskmaster. 5- Speedball. C’mon let’s get a petition going here. What you think? Either a title, more guest features or a team role.

Your list is good. Very accurate too. Here’s mine
1. Thing
2. Luke Cage
3. Speedball
4. Thor
5. Shroud

5- Speaking of Moon Knight’s rogue galleries from last week, who are his rogues???

Well a lot of MK’s villains are more from other titles but some are his own
Bushman
Midnight Man
Morpheus
Black Spectre
Arsenal
Left Hand Path
Zohar
Committee
To name a few

6- Besides Cannonball vs. Galdiator & L.Cage vs. Dr. Doom, what other major upsets have there been in Marvel?

I’ll say it

Squirrel Girl vs. almost anyone lol. She always wins

7- Since Coldblood returned in C.W., what other underused characters should Marvel bring back into the fold?

Actually I’m enjoying Civil War for that fact. We are seeing more and more returns of characters. If I say someone bet they would show up lol
8- Lobo, Lobo, Lobo…geez. This it it for me. 1-He sucks. 2- D.C. tried to make it look like Luthor paid him to lose…whatever. 3- He’s an over-the-top parody of Wolverine. 4- He lost to a 5’3″ guy. 5- He sucks royally. 6- He ain’t an icon or in D.C.’s top 25. 7- He was outmatched. 8- See number 1. 9- He’s an alien who lost to a 5’3″ human (mutant). 10- It was such a squash..he lost behind a damn bar…probably his bar! Sorry, had to vent. What “reality” is there where he can beat Logan….”What If?” He’s my Gambit! Though I must admit he is now tougher for the simple fact that HE CAN ACTUALLY SMOKE, whereas Wolvie can’t. Ugh!

heh Well I‘m not arguing for Lobo lol

Well I hate to point this out and all, but did you guys read 52 this week? Lobo, while a prat of a character and all, has a way better healing factor than Wolverine and is much much stronger. I think he’s a bit of a parody come to life too, but man, he’s tough.

9- Who are these top 10 obscure Defenders characters?
1. Gargoyle
2. Cloud
3. Clea
4. Hellstorm
5. Nighthawk
6. Overmind
7. Andromeda
8. Manslaugher
9. Devilslayer
10. Interloper

Very nice list

10- THEORY: I’m also starting to think that “Agent Lightning” isn’t the real Thor. Iron Man has been around Thor longer than Cap. Like only 4 issues or so. But maybe he & S.H.I.E.L.D used some technology & know how to create a dupe. I mean S.H.I.E.L.D does have Life Model Decoys right? Similar to the one that attacked Spider-Woman recently before she joined Cap. Funny how no Secret Avenger has super-senses like Wolverine to sniff him out, or telepathy (Cable?). This imposter may explain why he’s a killer. I never recalled Thor killing any heroes, so why be a killer now?

Since you‘ve read Civil War 4 you know by now Thor= clone

AFTER 9-20-6:

11- Civil War #4 (Finally!) On the last page, I saw Bullseye, Lady Deathstrike, Taskmaster, Venom?, but who were the rest?

Jack O’ Lantern, Lady Deathstrike, The Jester, Songbird (I thought Typhoid Mary myself for a time), The Taskmaster, Venom and Bullseye.

12- I always had my doubts about Sue, ever since Johnny was attacked, so I’m actually happy to see Marvel’s 1st family on different sides of the act. She will be that underrated, yet powerful force, that Cap now needs on his side. I expect her to play a vital role soon enough.

Sue is very powerful and her switching really goes in Cap’s favor. Also the fact that it was a fake Thor is in Cap’s favor. Thor is still out there.

13- My favorite iconic moments in it was Cap, bloody & bruised, standing up against Iron Man. Second was, the look on the Thing’s face as he watched Sue & Johnny defecting. I have to say that Spidey’s next to defect. It’s damn near obvious & a no-brainer. Third, the moment of Goliath falling, while Falcon flies a wounded Cap to safety. This issue spoke volumes and was well worth the wait. By the way, I thought The Thing left???

Well actually the FF issue where Thing leaves is actually after CW 4 I think. Because it was Cap’s side freeing captured heroes after a fight. That fight likely was CW 4

14- Tony Stark…geez…I respect him for paying for Bill Foster’s funeral, but he better get used to paying for funerals. That man has a lot of guilt on his shoulders, him and Reed. Hulk returns in 07!!!

Heh. I think Tony is getting more and more shady. I mean villains, clones, and more. Tony is really going to get it.

Just please Marvel Overlords, DO NOT make him so evil a younger version of himself has to travel through time to put a stop to himself. Remember how well that went over the last time!

15- Any idea on who was the masked man watching over Cable, Stature, & Nighthawk? I wanna say ole Frank Castle.

I’ve been trying to pick that out.

Theories:
Punisher: He’s coming after all
John Walker: US Agent could see Cap needs more help
Peter Parker: not the right color though
Clint Barton: Doubt it but heck think of him with Cap
Donald Blake: Thor baby. The real Thor.

16- Wolv. #46. Classic! Classic was the look on Emma Frost’s face when Wolvie said “Does Scott know you used to team up with Iron Man?” A reader called that one a couple weeks ago. Emma…can you say “hoe fo sho!”

Hehehe I loved that scene. One of my favorite moments.

17- Well Daron, it looks like Moon Knight has finally got the ball rolling now with the latest issue. I’m ready, are you two? The Taskmaster is friggin’ hilarious. I’d love to see a team-up or one-shot with him and Deadpool. That book would be priceless.

Taskmaster and Deadpool team-up is a great idea. I would love that

Y’know they fought a whole bunch of times during Deadpool’s original series and sort of hate each other, right? Right? But the fights were always really funny”¦

18- About the Joe Q. smoking ban, what about characters like J. Jonah Jameson & Ben Urich?

Well I’ve not seen either smoke to much since the ban but they have actually smoked in comics. Wonder what Joe thinks

Well I suppose you could still put the smoking cigar, or ashtray, in a panel with them and they’d technically not be smoking right? And trying to figure out Joe Q’s thought processes leads to ulcers. I’m just sayin'”¦

19- About that overall best fighting record top 10 last week: Hulk? he usually loses like every damn crossover battle, not including his few losses within Marvel. But his battle with Onslaught is very underrated though. Iron Man? How do you guys figure him?

Well Hulk I can throw out of there. Now we have Squirrel Girl lol

20- Top 10 Marvel Mutants: 1- Professor X, 2- Namor, 3- Magneto, 4- Beast, 5- Wolverine, 6- Cyclops, 7- Apocalypse, 8- Jean Grey 9- Deadpool 10- Taskmaster.

nice list

21- Since we now know who died, now that CW #4 is over….where do we or Marvel go from here??? Thanks guys. Cory out, See ya in 7.

We move onto new questions

Will Peter defect?
Will the villains capture Cap and his team?
Who is that masked man?
Where is Thor?

More questions to answer, so more debate.

Isn’t “THAT MASKED MAN” always the Lone Ranger?

Issues please check out here

We took a lot of questions so please check my updates there. I will keep that site updated at all times.

There’s another edition of the Marvel Handbook for everyone. What you think Daron?

I guess we’ll find that out next week, providing I didn’t screw the column all to hell. Hope my filling in doesn’t cause mass panic amongst the fandom!

Well with a great week of questions and more I hope it continues this way

Well it’ll be more business as usual next week, which means less DOOM! and Tone Loc references, I reckon.

Alrighty I’ll finish us off this week

1. Marvel.com poll What has been the most shocking event in Civil War?

2. Digital comics Comics you can read online

3. Marvel is in the process of adding new bios and added a ton of new ones. Check them out here

4. As always your opinions on anything in the article or out on the shelves is welcome. After all you never know what type of response you will get.

5. Keep those emails coming and make sure to label them Marvel Handbook. The more emails the better the article is.
