The AP is reporting that the two San Francisco Chronicle reporters who penned “Game of Shadows” have been sentenced to jail for refusing to name the sources that provided them with leaked grand jury testimony in the BALCO case. They could face as long as 18 months.
Wow – what a spectacular waste of everyone’s time and money. Maybe the federal government could spend a little more time going after real criminals (or even better, dealing with serious situations like getting our troops out of Iraq sometime this century, or rebuilding New Orleans, or oh I don’t know, fixing our schools or something), and a little less time worrying about steriods in baseball – let alone a couple of guys who were simply reporting about steroids in baseball.
