MTV Mix – Volume 13

Features, Shows

We still only have four shows to watch this week. But in the near future, a few new shows and special features are coming to this column. Stay tuned, but for now it’s time for another mix…

MONDAY

Nothing again this week. I may be commenting on some “smaller” MTV shows like Parental Control and Next and this new show called MTV’s Little Talent Show if this keeps up, but I haven’t decided on that yet. For now, we have nothing here.

TUESDAY

See Monday!

WEDNESDAY

‘Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County’

We have lots of stories going on in this episode. We start off with Kyndra and Cami talking about Kyndra’s ex-boyfriend, Tyler. He is back in town it seems and he calls Kyndra to see if she wants to come eat dinner with him at his house. She says okay, which pisses Cami off. Why? Apparently Kyndra has broken up with Tyler 2 or 3 times already. They break up and get back together just so they can break up again. Cami is tired of seeing Kyndra do this, but she knows that Kyndra has to make her own mistakes. So she leaves it alone.

The next three stories revolve around Cameron, of course. Tessa hooked up with Cameron in San Diego and she wants to continue to see him. Cameron talks to his friend Nick and Nick tells Cameron that he is “shopping for girls”. He means Cameron is getting a taste of different girls, if you know what he means and I think you do. Cameron says it’s not like that, though. He doesn’t want to break anyone’s heart. This leads right to Jessica having lunch with Alex H. Did I mention there is another party this week? Yep, it’s Cameron’s birthday. So they continue to fast-forward to all the “holiday” parties like my girl Lauren over on The Hills. Back to this show. Jessica says she likes hanging out with Cameron, except he is in high school still which is a little weird. Alex still thinks Jessica should go to Cameron’s birthday party for a little bit. I smell a collision coming!

Kyndra goes to Tyler’s house to eat. Everything goes good there and Tyler wants to know if Kyndra wants to give it another chance. Without hardly blinking an eye, she says yes and they kiss. Kyndra tells Cami the “good” news and she doesn’t care. Tyler tells a friend of his own. It just happens to be Jason, you know Lauren’s boyfriend that shouldn’t be. Again, I must be psychic as I just talked about Lauren without even knowing that Jason would be in this episode. Tyler and Jason play golf, of course. The most interesting things from their conversation is that Jason says that Lauren “mellowed” him out from the party scene. Tyler mentions to Jason that Jessica is dating Cameron. Jason used to go out with Jessica, if you don’t know your season two trivia. Jason says “that’s so creepy”, which is pretty funny. Oh, and Tyler calls that relationship “random” so add one to our count.

It’s time for Cameron’s birthday party! Cameron worries about all the girls showing up at his party. His friend Nick tells him to keep his options open. Cameron agrees. The second word of the day is “mellow”. They’ve said that twice in this episode. Raquel thinks Tessa should give Cameron a birthday kiss when she arrives. That would be good, except that Jessica arrives to the party first. Interesting note here before the fireworks. Cami bumps into Jessica at the party. They end up talking about Kyndra and her dsyfunctional relationship with Tyler. Jessica thinks it’s worst that her and Jason. We go straight from that into Kyndra and Tyler arguing at dinner. HAHAHAHA! Imagine that. I swear girls never learn.

Here we go. Raquel and her boyfriend along with Tessa finally arrive at the party. Tessa wants to know where Cameron is and he’s outside with Jessica. Tessa goes out there and see them together. Cameron and Tessa exchange a weird look and Tessa wants to leave now. So they’re gone and Cameron finishes his birthday party. Time for the aftermath, though. Tessa is upset about the birthday party, because remember Cameron told Tessa in San Diego with the “taco guy” that he was through with dating different girls. He was settling down. That was a lie I told you and Tessa finds this out now. She tries to call Cameron, but Nick covers for him.

So this episode proves two theories I have. Girls dig the “bad boys” for some unknown reason. They end up as “players” and do anything to make it seem like they aren’t so they can be with a specific girl at a specific time. Once they get that girl once, they drop them and go on to the next. However, as we also saw girls keep going back to the same bad guys. It makes zero sense, but that’s women for you.

‘Two-a-Days’

It’s Homecoming Week! There is a bunch of activities planned this week. For one, the cheerleaders and other girls will be competing in a “powder puff” football game, which is basically flag football for girls. Funny segment to start with Taylor, the leader of the former football players, acting like Coach Propst as he coaches the girls for their football game. At the same time, we see Propst coaching Hoover High.

Alex and Kristin are going to the Homecoming Dance together! Yay! Goose seems to be a little jealous of Alex, though. He is really upset at Kristin for going back to Alex time after time. Please see what I said above about the Laguna Beach episode. This backs my theory up again.

Time for the girl’s football game and the senior girls defeat the junior girls in a blowout victory! Taylor thinks it was all his coaching abilities. We go from that to Goose again. We learn that Goose doesn’t like Repete that much as he talks too much! Interesting. Meanwhile, practice doesn’t go so well for the team. Propst says they are not focused and yells at some of them for not having socks on. He really said that. He blames it all on Homecoming Week as it’s full of distractions. Another note is that Max has to be the punter for this week’s game, since the regular one can’t play. He’s nervous about that.

Time for the game! It’s Hoover vs. Pelham! Ross is back to starting at quarterback. Ross does much better to start this game as the Bucs lead 14-0. Ross runs for another touchdown right before Halftime and it’s 21-0. Halftime features the crowning of the queen. And my girl, Blair, got robbed I tell you! ROBBED! The second half is all Hoover as well. Everyone plays great! They win 35-7!

It’s time to dance now! Alex says it’s the last time they will dance together. Um, what abot Prom? Oh, I don’t think we will go that far in the year with this show. So this is the last dance we will see them have. Not much to say about it, though. Next week, it appears we are getting closer to some GIANT games, though!

THURSDAY

‘Wild ‘N Out’

This week’s guest is E-40. He’s a rapper, if you didn’t know. He leads the black team, which consists of Corey Holcomb, Nyima Funk, Deray Davis, Taran Killiam, Leonard Robinson, and Mikey Day. The red team is Nick Cannon along with Spanky Hayes, Rob Hoffman, Shawty, Rasika Mathur, Katt Williams, and Affion Crockett.

The first round is called “So Fly”. Each members of a team brag about how great their team captains are. Black team wins this round with Mikey Day taking this round!

The second round is called “Let Me Holla”. Team members will attempt to pick up a girl using their best lines. We have a special guest “Wild N’ Out girl” tonight named Nikki Alexander a.k.a. “Hoopz” from the Flavor of Love. I say the black team wins again with Deray Davis winning this round. Nick Cannon was runner-up, though, for his creative line I can’t say.

The third round is called “Slanguage”. This is an unique one. Basically it’s E-40 from the Oakland , CA a.k.a. “Bay Area” vs. Shawty from the Atlanta, GA a.k.a. “ATL”. Each of these areas has specific slang language and they will try to stump the other. They get a point if they can figure out what the other person is saying. Red takes that round easily as Katt Williams wins it for them with Affion Crockett being the runner-up along with Mikey Day.

The final round is “WildStyle”. Both teams freestyle rap against each other. I say red wins this round again and I have to give the show to them as they finished strong. The winner of this round and the MVP of the show goes to Affion Crockett!

‘Pimp My Ride’

Xzibit helps Lawanna this week. She has a 1968 Volkswagen Beetle. She paid $100 for this car, but she probably still got ripped off. The car is slow, it has a door that creeks and cracks, and it wobbles when she drives it. Her job right now is a hairdresser.

Xzibit thinks the car may be abandoned. He says the paint color of this car is “a mixture of rust, time, and accidents”. She has a brick for her emergency brake. She also has blood on a tissue inside her car and a manquin head. Interesting girl here. I should note that she wants to go into the Air Force, because she loves heights!

The GAS crew gets to work. The theme for this is “Hair Force One”. Mad Mike was in the Air Force and he is going to put air plane controls inside the car. The color on the outside is going to be royal blue and yellow. They are replacing the backseat with 10″ monitors. The seats inside of the car will be just like the ones at a hair salon. In addition, the back of the car has changed into her personal hair salon with a built-in iPod to entertain her clients and a special hairdryer on top of the car.

Xzibit also gives Lawanna some flying lessons. I didn’t really like this car that much. The best thing is probably the “command center” inside the car, but that it. The car looks good on the outside as well. But if you like hair, this is the car for you.

And that ends the 13th volume of the “MTV Mix”! If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or feedback of any kind..send them my way!!

I’ll see you next week when we mix things up a bit!

Sir Linksalot: Reality Television

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
