TNA TV Update, Including WCW Stars to Debut

News

Here are some updates to PK’s story about the new member of the TNA creative team (Jeremy Botter will have even more to add to this when his column posts later this evening):

– Dave Meltzer at WrestlingObserver.com says that there will indeed be a new timeslot announced soon. This may or may not be the announcement Dixie Carter has hyped up on TNAWrestling.com for Sunday’s PPV. Some timeslots being discussed over the past few months were moving to 8-9pm on a different night, expanding to two hours, etc.

– Also from Meltzer: Jeff Jarrett has booked Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell for Monday’s post-PPV television tapings in Orlando. Both former WCW stars as of yesterday didn’t know about Vince Russo being hired to be a writer, or whether or not their role would be recurring or a one-shot like last time they were on TNA TV.

– PWInsider.com has also confirmed that Russo is returning and that some members of TNA were informed yesterday morning, with the plan being to tell the roster prior to No Surrender. Morale is a big question-mark, with some concerned that Russo won’t emphasize what many feel is TNA’s strong-point: the in-ring work. Russo has had issues in the past with some on the TNA roster, including on-air figurehead Jim Cornette. In particular, Cornette was very unhappy with Russo’s booking in WCW to mock Jim Ross, and Cornette was once involved in an incident where he ended up spitting on Ed Ferrara, who was Russo’s writing partner. Most feel that these two will need to be kept apart backstage.

We’ll have more on this as it breaks!
