“Can’t-Miss” First Ten Minutes of RAW?

News

Take this for what it’s worth, but USA Network is running commercials hyping RAW saying that you “can’t miss the first ten minutes” of the show. The tease is that someone may take over for Vince McMahon, as WWE.com tossed out there over the weekend, but USA has shown RAW commercials in the past that didn’t come to fruition (for example, one hinting that a Batista victory over Coach & Co. at last year’s Taboo Tuesday would result in JR keeping his job). Of course, there is a potential GM candidate backstage at RAW tonight, according to WWE.com…

Yes, WWE’s Web site is showing a picture of former RAW GM Eric Bischoff, who is backstage at RAW as we speak. The latest issue of WWE Magazine (with Maria on the cover) hypes up Bischoff’s upcoming autobiography Controversy Creates Cash, so he may very well just be there to promote the book. WrestlingObserver.com reports that according to their sources, there are no plans for him apart from the book hype, although “thigns always change.” With TNA making the huge Kurt Angle announcement last night, one never knows.

In other news:

– WWE has released two developmental talents from Deep South Wrestling: “Inferno Kid” Danny Gimondo and Kevin Matthews.

– The October 9 RAW will be a three-hour “Family Reunion” special celebrating the one-year anniversary of the return to USA Network.

– Cryme Time are being booked as babyfaces vs. the former Team Angle/World’s Greatest Tag Team at upcoming house shows. There has been some speculation that Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas will reunite, perhaps as early as tonight’s show that will feature DX facing three yet-to-be-named tag teams.

– Hulk Hogan may retire (ha!) according to this story from the Long Island Press. In the interview, he mentions that he would like to wrestle at least one more match, although he has a limited number of them left in him, and that if it’s at Wrestlemania next year, he wants to pay tribute to his match with Andre the Giant, which took place 20 years earlier also in Detroit. If there’s no nWo reunion, and WWE can’t get Stone Cold to face Hogan, a Hogan/Big Show match has been rumored for some time, and was discussed when Hogan (accompanied by Hogan Knows Best cameras) met with Vince last week. Also in the interview, Hogan talks about why he’s better than The Rock or Austin, the WWE drug policy and more.

– Matt Cappotelli, who’s had a rough year to say the least, recently lost his grandfather. You can read Matt’s very inspiring commentary on his Web site here. As far as Matt’s health goes, he says that he’s waiting for results from some more testing, but so far his brain tumor hasn’t gotten any worse. We wish the best to Matt and his family.
