The Amazing Race – Romo's rant on Episode 2

Shows

Well episode two of the 10th season of The Amazing Race has ended and I can say I that I am hooked line and sinker once again.

The trip to Mongolia made me incredibly jealous, as for some odd reason I have always wanted to go there. What can I say, Genghis Khan rules!

So far I really don’t have a “favourite” team although the “hicks” are pretty entertaning with their naive ignorance. “I have never known a (whisper) gay person (end whisper) before. And you know what? I like ’em” And how they bonded with Edwin and Goodwin because they had never met Asian people before.

Speaking of the Asian, well actually they are Korean to be more accurate, brothers I have been very disappointed in them. For some reason they are always in the back of the pack. Even when it looks like they have clawed themselves out they seem to drop 4-5 positions during any long drives.

That brings me to what I wanted to talk about next. The whole driving thing. I mean I never quite understood how some teams could let others pass them on the road? Sure, you want to obey the laws in a foreign country and not speed but if a team guns it by you at least keep up with them. If by some chance there is a cop waiting to ticket speeders the team in front will get caught in 95% of the time.

Ok and what is with Sarah? Does she has the lowest self-esteem ever? Or just blindly in love with a guy who would probably choose pretty much anyone over her? Poor girl, hopefully she walks up and realizes she doesn’t need to settle.

I have to say the three teams that have been eliminated I was sad to see go. As Murtz pointed out in his column both of his “brown” teams got nixed in the first episode and now the hot cheerleaders, who both seemed much nicer and more interesting than the beauty queens, are gone.

Lastly, what is it about dudes who yell at their wives/gfs? It seems The Amazing Race LOVES to cast jerks who like to verbally abuse their so-called loved ones. Ironically, the one guy who would be stereotyped to fall in the category, the rural coalminer, actually seems to be the most understanding when it comes to marital difficulties.

Ok maybe that wasn’t the last thing because I have one more rant. If those stupid model boys bring up their drug addiction again I’m gonna scream. I mean congrats, addictions are rough and many people never survive them but stop tooting your own horn already. These guys are BEGGING to have a movie of the week made about their lives, oh and of course they would want to star in it as themselves.
