Variety is reporting that The Hills Have Eyes director is attached to helm an English-language bigscreen adaptation of the French bestseller The Gospel According to Jimmy.

The book rights were acquired by Alexandre Films, the French production company owned by Aja’s father Alexandre Arcady – the same company that produced Aja’s first feature High Tension with Luc Besson’s Europacorp.

Set in the near future, the French novel tells the story of a pool cleaner in Los Angeles who discovers that he’s a clone of Jesus, made of DNA taken from the Turin shroud.

Before working on the script, Aja will be directing Mirrors, a loosely-based adaptation of the Korean film Into the Mirror.
