[NEWS] Smith is Offically the First New Show to Be Cancelled; Kidnapped moves to Saturday Night

News, Shows

A couple of days ago I reported that Kidnapped would be the first show to get cancelled. However, NBC was committed to airing the 13 episodes it ordered. CBS decided it was time to officially cancel one of their new shows immediately!

Smith is off the CBS schedule! It used to air on Tuesday nights, but it was always last in the ratings behind Boston Legal and Law & Order: SVU.

The critics loved Smith, starring Ray Liotta as a master thief/family man, but that didn’t seem to matter. More than ever, it seems the timeslot of shows is most important in the success of the show. I blame the 10 p.m., Tuesday night timeslot for the failure of Smith.

In addition, Kidnapped, which has a few episodes left, has been moved to Saturday night on NBC at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Yes, they want to make sure NO ONE sees the final episode of that show. Saturday is the least-watched night of the week.

I will have more information on all of the changes for all of the major networks on Monday in my “Ratings Report”. There have been quite a few moves and changes this past week and I will cover it all on Monday.

Sir Linkaslot: Television News

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
